4. This is so, so sad. It is disgracefull that the yacht owner has not come forward with any financial help. A young life was taken brutally. Can the yacht also be held accountable for the attorneys etc if her parents are getting legal advise for the investigation and court case?

11. I am appalled at the compassionless reporting, no reference to this being the most horrific sadest tragedy imaginable . Our thoughts should solely be with Her Family and friends , not bothering people who may have information
    who must be distraught. More importantly promote the fund raising.

12. The yacht owner/management company would be responsible for repatriation of remains and belongings under a standard MCA SEA.

13. Can you imagine how horrible it would be to only be 20 years old, working in a new job, isolated on a boat, and then you’re being harassed sexually by an older male crew member? You can’t go anywhere or hide because there is no privacy for crew on board. He obviously was reprimanded for this and apparently his bruised ego couldn’t handle a rejection so he kills this innocent young lady who is just starting out in life. Man is by far the most dangerous predator.

22. My only SY experience is Below Deck, and I am always appalled at the amount of violent arguments, borderline sexual assaults and blackout drinking. I can only imagine how bad is is when there aren’t cameras everywhere. So sad for this young woman.

26. Women are always the last to get the protection. The guy will get to keep his job before she can be safe.

27. There are so many legal factors involved in this. Firstly the crew are now witnesses to a murder so will be barred from speaking on social media for fear of jeopardising a trial so can't answer any of the allegations being put to them. That's unfair. Secondly the poor woman and her injuries are evidence so can't be sent home for a very long time. And thirdly jumping to conclusions about the owner and crew is just unfair and typical social media lynch mob mentality. Anyone who knows anything about MLC rules know that it is the owners responsibility to repatriate someone after their death so I'm sure when the time comes and it is allowed to happen that will indeed be what happens. Posting comments based on rumours just makes you look silly stop it

Good grief, on the basis of pure rumour, speculation and hearsay we now have a comments section that is in the process of elevating a complete stranger to all and allegedly murdered woman to sainthood. While at the same time crucifying the assumed "very wealthy" (your words, not mine) owner of the vessel for his/her assumed refusal to pay for family members to travel to the Bahamas and the repatriation of her body.

    Just for good measure the alleged perpetraitor has been found guilty by this comments section, because he is a man, of the charges. There is no requirement for due process or any notion that he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

31. I agree, the Yacht should be paying for all of this. And a question, why hasn’t the industry already required ALL Super Yacht’s to run an international criminal history on all employees? As I am recently retired Dispatcher of 30yrs, I would find it odd to not run a History on each of the crew. Even a public intoxication could be a red flag, IMO. Especially since these Super Yacht’s hire people from around the world. Starting with their country of origin. And obviously going from there worldwide. I just don’t understand.

32. Owner is responsible for safe work environment. Including repatriation and any costs associated. Parents get a very good lawyer.

33. I am in agreement with you about why he was allowed to stay after sexually harassing her . This kind of behaviour should result in immediate dismissal! And yes the company should definitely pay for all expenses and a settlement for her parents ( not that it would bring her back ) for their lack of protecting their daughter when they already knew there was a problem.

45. On a yacht you have almost nos escape except dive so theres more risk of crime than on shore against maniacs

46. My daughter insisted her Captain remove a crewman who was sexually woman crew. She was willing to report him to the officials and willing to lose her job. The Captain fired the crewman with immediate effect. Women suport each other and stand together. Demand that your safety it is priority.

47. This poor woman was working and advised the employer of her concerns re this man. This demographic is 3 times the violence against women level of that found in the USA. Mexico and South America recognise Femicide due to this statistic.
    In Africa, violence against women is 9 X that of the USA.
    Murder on a yacht may be very rare but women getting killed due to this sexist violence is not rare and we hear of incidents each day. I am afraid people are so used to hearing about these murders that complacency exists and in this case, this may have contributed to this young women's death.
    People need to MAKE MORE EFFORT TO PROTECT WOMEN, PLEASE! Thank you for advocating for her family towards the employer!
    Condolences to this young woman whose life is now ended for such vile reasons and to her family and friends.
