  1. I’ve sailed the Celebrity Retreat about a half dozen times and I thought your review was accurate and fair. It is expensive, but once you’ve tasted it, there is no going back. 😎

  2. I'll be experiencing the Yacht Club for the first time next year. Just for fun i checked celebrity for the same date range i am cruising and the cheapest sky suite was over $1300 more with the base balcony i have. Add in the Voyager club discount and difference jumps to nearly $1800. It also seems the Yacht club experience seems more consistent across the class of ships that have it as they were designed with the space in mind.

  3. Celebrity gave us up to four devices each when we stayed in a Royal Suite. Going on MSC shortly and was told we only get one device each and it doesn’t include streaming where Celebrity did. Had to buy more devices with streaming so that we can work. Celebrity wins in this category.

  4. Are there kids at the Yacht Club? I’ve heard MSC is big with families, don’t get me wrong I love kids I have four but I’m 64 now and I like my vacations quite does that sound terrible? Oh well that’s how I feel

  5. Hello Doug,

Thank you for the comparisons as it's good timing as my wife and I will be expierening the ship within a ship concept & suite experience on both lines in the near future.
We have a 7 night Eastern Caribbean sailing including a port stop at there private island of Ocean Cay on MSC World America 6,700 passengers in the Yacht Club on deck 21 in a deluxe balcony suite port side of the ship here in late October 2025.
Also, we have a March 2026 11 night Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean ABC Islands cruise on Celebrity Ascent 3,200 passengers in a Aqua Sky Suite on deck 10 port side of the ship with the retreat experience as well.
We are looking forward to our first experiences of these concepts and suite categories and ships as it will be all new experiences for us.
I will say MSC World class, Yacht Clubs are laid out differently vs. C class ships. The WA has a smaller pool on deck 22 about the same size as Celebrity's Retreat, and on deck 21 is the bar and lounge where you sit down to have a meal and be served. There is no more buffet on the pool deck. Also, snacks in the top sail lounge on deck 21 do not have a spread of snacks laid out. Instead, you can request snacks, and they will bring them to you on a tiered tray set.
Also you can have a secondary option Yacht Club dinner location called the La Brasserie which is the second buffet area on WA for breakfast and lunch but for diiner it's turned into a dinner option just for Yacht Club guests. The reviews have been great. You need only to make a reservation.
Deck 20 is the top 20 solarium for Yacht club guests and Aurea guests that has a big bar with seating and plenty of deck space and loungers with two big/huge jacuzzi hot tubs on both side edges of the ship.
If you read passenger reviews, especially those of past MSC Yacht Club guests, they perfer the yacht clubs on the C class ships of seaside, seashore, and seascape VS World America and world-class ships in general.
I'm thinking of the changes for the yacht club on WA, especially with the buffet poolside and open snacks in the top sail lounge that the staff serve you vs passengers helping themselves is related to health protocols and food waste maybe?
    I don't know.
Also, the smaller pool may be because this ship has a lot of pools and hot tubs, even an adult only zen area with two nice sized pools on each side. Personally, i think MSC could have made the pool area bigger in the yacht club with all the space on deck 22 and a yacht club that is your biggest passenger guest wise.
We have not sailed MSC and Yacht Club before, so we have no comparisons other than cruise critic and social media reviews for WA, which are very mixed. So we are going in with low expectations and hoping for a great first experience.
It seems that on C class ships, reviews are great for the yacht club and not so great for the rest of the ship with overcrowding. On WA, the reviews are mixed in the yacht club and very good on the rest of the ship for spacing, food, entertainment, and no overcrowding, even for a MEGA ship.
As for Celebrity we have more insight as we took our first cruise with them back in October of 2023 on there soltice class ship Equinox in a Aqua class balcony stateroom as we enjoyed that experience enough to step up and book the March 2026 cruise on Ascent our first experience with a edge class ship. So our expectations are obviously higher, and we are excited about this bucket list cruise.
As for value, MSC Yacht Club has it over NCL the Haven , Celebrity's the Retreat and Princess cruises concept.
We are paying for MSC yacht club $ 547.00 per per person per night 7 nights and our Celebrity Ascent cruise at $ 700.00 dollars per person per per night for our 11 night cruise.
Both cruises are not cheap by any means, but it's a good comparison of apples to apples.
We feel for the pricing on both cruises, we are getting a lot for our money with all the amenities you would expect and more.
We booked both these trips in advance by 1 to 2 years, but time moves fast. 😅
As a side note, we also have our first luxury cruise booked for March 2027 on MSC's luxury line Explora Journeys on Explora III 922 passengers embarking out of Bridgetown Barbados to the deeper southern Caribbean islands and back to Miami. We are booked into a Cove Residence Suite on deck 8 for this journey.
We booked this cruise 2 years in advance and received plenty of promotions and feel we are getting real value for a newer small luxury brand.

Thanks again for your detailed review, and I'm sorry for writing a whole book. 😅

  6. Another great video! thanks! We have sailed in the Yacht Club multiple times and absolutely love it. We have been reluctant to sail the Retreat because we have heard that the sun deck is packed not just with people from the Retreat, but also people who have slipped in past the gates. How packed is the Retreat deck on sea days?

  7. We tried MSC and Celebrity side by side a few months ago out of Europe. YC and Retreat. I’m afraid that MSC was a one and done. Yes, MSC was a little less expensive, they do a great job on the “ship within a ship” concept but the “overall” experience felt cheaper. Celebrity does not do the ship within a ship concept as suites are located from forward to aft and not contained in one area. We enjoyed certain areas of the YC like the Top Sail lounge with the live entertainment. The crew within the YC including our butler was fantastic with the exception of a few of the concierge desk crew members. We did not enjoy the YC dining. The food tasted like it came from the main dining room. It did not feel elevated like Luminae. Also, we had an issue with the arrogant YC concierge desk. Customer Service is not one of MSC’s strong points. The big issue on MSC for us was when you step outside of the YC. It’s a whole different ballgame. Packed and noisy. I thought that I was back twenty plus years ago and had boarded a Carnival ship. We did not experience that on Celebrity. The Top Sail lounge was nicer than Celebrity’s retreat lounge atmosphere wise. We enjoy using the entire ship and on MSC that was a no go. The casino was small for the large ship size and it was warm and smokey. No smoking allowed inside on Celebrity. We will gladly pay a little more to enjoy the Celebrity experience. We’re glad that we tried MSC for ourself but found that it’s not for us even though many enjoy their product. Thanks for sharing your video and thoughts. 🙂

  8. Great video. Wondering where you got the pricing stats for MSC Seascape in August 2026 since Seascape is homeported out of Galveston during that time and the only 2 ships sailing out of Miami are Seaside and World America during the month of August.

  9. We are trying MSC Yacht Club, on a SEA Class ship this Fall. Booked a short 4 night.
I would have to double check, but it seems that CELEBRITY was far far more expensive. That really did make the difference for us.
For the shorter Get-a-Way cruises, none of them visited Coco Cay, and they were all on older smaller ships like the Reflection.
So, none of those appealed. The Private Island and destinations on the MSC 4-Night were better.
For a week, or longer, I am quite sure that the rest of the experience on the MSC ship, would rule this out for us.
Just decided to give it a try, and found a decent rate.

  10. I have been a Celebrity passenger for 20 years and last year changed to MSC and there is no doubt that the Yacht Club absolutely blows the Retreat out of the water, from arriving at the port to the dedicated areas, Retreat does not have its own full pool area, they do not serve a buffet lunch and breakfast and the Retreat lounge is like an airport waiting room compared to the Top Sail Lounge, Celebrity does not have a true 'ship within a ship' and the facilities on MSC are far superior and that is from someone who has done over 20 cruises with Celebrity in Celebrity Suites to the Penthouse. MSC know their market and they really know how to do it with style, it is a real all inclusive area with everything you need in one place.

  11. Excellent review! My wife and I sailed on the third sailing of the MSC World America in the Yacht Club. Our experience was not great. The pool was about the same size as the Retreat on Celebrity Edge. There was no buffet in the Yacht Club, only the cafe. There was limited staff so when we wanted a drink on sun deck we had walk down a deck to the bar at the cafe. We were not able to see a single comedy show all week. The first one filled up which is fine but we couldn’t book the next one on the app and the concierge desk couldn’t either. We had some of the same problems booking specially restaurants. Our butler didn’t answer calls three out of four times. I will say the Yacht Club restaurant was top notch and the staff there were extremely friendly and helpful. The Yacht Club Director Melania was super helpful but was always hurried. I don’t know if it was growing pains or what but our experiences with Rockstar on Virgin and Celebrity Retreat were much better.

  12. MSC is good in the US but terrible in Europe. They speak multiple languages over and over and the ship is full of rude Europeans that’s don’t understand the concept of personal space.

  13. We sailed on the MSC Seashore in an interior room in the Yacht Club. It really does provide good value for money, but in all honesty, I don't think I'd want to book that room for a cruise any longer that the 7 day voyage we did. MSC's private island was V-E-R-Y nice!
