2. The main problem with H2S is that in high concentrations, it inhibits the sense of smell, so you may not know it is actually poisoning you. Since it is heavier than air, it sinks. This is also true of CO2 and most SxOx and NxOx heavy compounds. People who go into sewers have in prior history, become overcome without knowing it. Some of the commercial sensors are also susceptible to this, and also some of the Hydrocarbon detectors as well. We had one failure at our shop, long ago, with earlier inferior sensors.

An important issue with HS gas is that humans can only smell it at comparatively low concentrations; once that exceeds a certain PPM count (say, if approaching a prolific source, like sour crude oil), the smell will appear to vanish, followed rapidly by collapse and incapacitation. This continues to be a hazard for rescuers.

8. That doesn't make economic sense to motor the yacht 24 nautical miles out to sea to dump the black water tank when it can be dumped for a fraction of the cost plus time as well is saved .

The former owner's attorney is arguing their client's case through press releases and statements. Their words outside of the courtroom mean nothing.

One problem with Hydrogen Sulphide poisoning is at first you smell the strong "rotten egg" gas smell, but it starts to affect your sense of smell so much that as the gas concentration gets stronger, your sense of smell reduces more and more until you are unaware that you are becoming overwhelmed by the gas.

All verifiable by various tax papers, title filings, a whole string chain of title rather than one man arguing, apparently with no documents, before a court?

17. MY Sherpa could be a support vessel but also looks like an explorer yacht. My type of vessel, go anywhere and do anything whilst retaining a reasonably low profile. Get a few rust streaks on the hull, some untidy lines and a crew in normal clothes and bingo – just another boat on the ocean. Way to go.

19. Why don't more boats have composting heads? I've used one in my sailboat for almost 20 years with great results. No blackwater tank to empty, only urine tank. I would think one could be designed to be "more gentile" for "upper crust" yacht owners.

20. If the battery's boil it will put out a fair amount of gas, just like hot water boiling. but you would normally smell it, .But not sure if the smell would wake you.

21. Had an Amel berth next to us once – stank to high heaven and there were people coming and complaining (we were asking if we could help). Almost contrite he pulled off and anchored – not sure I would have done as that took him away from help. No major issues ensued but it was harsh on the crew and succumbing to peer pressure was maybe not the best move?

26. Hydrogen sulfide, like cyanide, destroys the hemoglobin, thus blocking the oxygen transport in your body. If too much hemoglobin gets destroyed, you suffocate to death. An oxygen mask doesn't work.

32. Carinthia VII was launched in 2002, not 2022. Regardless, it's a spectacular boat, although I appreciated the original homey interior more than the current one.

33. I had my carbon monoxide alarm going off last year on the sailboat.. I was sleeping… woke up, scared.. opened all windows immediately.. looking for a fire that was lacking oxygen… found nothing… then I found the 2nd engine battery was “hissing”… disconnected it and set it outside off the boat immediately. Funny thing was the CO-alarm was also triggered by hydrogen.

    Jabs were experimental causing 7 pages of side effects. Giving only immunity to the manufactures, not the people. Including SADS…

34. I don't care how much money you have. Boats and yachts are money pits. Sure, you can deduct them for tax purposes. However, this entails creative accounting. Many of these ships are owned by nefarious entities. Give me a fisherman's rowboat, and I'm happy.
