  1. Cruised YC in February. Absolutely worth every dollar. The inclusions are great and the island a stand out, though the beach was rocky and required water shoes.

  2. My wife and I are going on our first MSC cruise in late October about 30 days from now on World America in the Yacht Club. We booked a deluxe balcony suite on deck 21 for the 7 night Eastern Caribbean itinerary.
We are not MEGA ship people per say but the itinerary, time frame, price and reviews of yacht club sold us to give it a try.
The only way we were going on MSC was in there ship within a ship concept especially with a ship of 6,700 families and lots of children.
Also all the perks of yacht club with embarking and disbarking along with priority to the main threatre for shows and all the other nice touches was what we were looking for.
Also having the best of both worlds of exploring this massive mega ship but being able to return to the tranquility of yacht club when the crowds and noise are too much was also something we wanted.
Our preferred line is Celebrity as we don't have children and are both 58 yrs old.
We are also taking an 11 night Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean ABC Islands cruise in March of 2026 on Celebrity Ascent our second cruise with Celebrity but our first edge class ship experience. Also our first experiences in a suite category and the retreat as we booked a Aqua Sky Suite on deck 10.

Thank you for the review of the Yacht Club with MSC.

  3. We love MSC and have cruised with them many times. We tried YC once. IMHO not worth it. The services that we received were not better than those provided by a good cabin attendant and the customer service desk. The food and the drinks were certainly no better than elsewhere on the ship. We spent most of the time outside of the YC going to the shows, the specialty restaurants, activities, etc, so we did not spend the majority of the time in the YC. The biggest negative is that the YC is not adult only. The time we cruised YC there were lots of children in YC and they took up the pool and made lots of noise in the YC lounge and restaurant. You obviously had a different experience, but my advice is sail in the regular area of the ship and save your money for other fun on the trip.

  4. I’m wondering why anyone would bother with this. If you want to be on an exclusive ship that feels like a yacht, then go on such a ship. It probably won’t cost any more than Yacht Club and it won’t require you to put up with all the downsides of being one of thousands of passengers on a huge cruise ship that can only visit the same places that all the other huge ships visit.

I get the feeling that the cruise lines that offer this ship-within-a-ship concept are trading on the fact that there are plenty of people who would rather like to feel superior to people on the same ship than just another passenger on a more upmarket ship.

This reminds of a recent discussion I had with a fellow business class passenger in an airport lounge. She was flying in business class for the first time. She said that on her previous connecting flight she had enjoyed the fact that all the economy passengers had to walk past her whilst she had he pre take off drink in her business class seat. She seemed very disappointed when I explained that the next plane was an A380 and Business class took up the whole top deck with the result that she would not see an economy class passenger for the whole trip.

  5. The premium chocolates sound luxurious. I like the hacks you mentioned : (1) sailing during a non-premium season (May) and (2) bidding for an upgrade from a regular cabin.

  6. That is some weird maths – if you spent $1,300 on an inside cabin and then another $1,000 (likely more, since minimum usually won't win) you didn't spend $1,000 to get into YC – you spent $2,300+. Which is still cheap for YC, but not $1,000-kinda-cheap
