  4. Some very nice ideas – love the paddleboard garage. And sailing gear is "one size up". Looks a little nicer than the typical "Ikea" interior though it is another design with rather sharp, square corners on joinery – 'gonna be some bruises on the crew. Did I miss the engines part? Saildrives? or direct shafts? Oh well, I'd have to rob multiple banks to afford one…

  8. I’ve been sailing multihulls (+designed and built some) for over 45 years. A lot has changed in that time, mostly for the better, but not only. This cat is well aimed at its buyers, the rich people looking for comfortable luxury. The wharf claims performance, but that’s bullshit. This is a great house that moves competently, but slowly. There is zero sportiness in sailing this. None whatsoever.

    My main gripe with this boat, however, apart from the weight, is the complexity. That gripe is at least as valid with any other new cruiser, monos too. This one is thoughtfully planned and built, probably giving it more reliability than most Still it’s stomping on the KISS principle. That always comes at a cost; constant failures and maintenance. If you can buy this boat, you can afford whatever it costs to have competent people maintaining your boat all the time. If they’re not where you are, you fly them in.

    Fine, but not for most people. Some rich people also don’t like the constant maintenance of bling. The only other viable strategy is to remove items that will demand time and money in maintenance. Simplicity rules, always! That was the norm earlier, but now customers expect more electronic gadgets on their boat than in any home. Could there ever be a problem with complicated electronics in a salt water environment? …?

    Rather than AC, why not just use shades over the decks? Rather than everything being button control, winches, windows, you name it, why not just do it manually? It’s not like it’s hard work. Why so many vulnerable surfaces and materials, cloth and plush stuff? A boat must be a robust vehicle. It’s NOT an apartment or a sofa! I also think new boats have way too much “furniture” stuffed in everywhere. It’s a showroom, not a boat. Simplify!

    Fully charged:Max speed, for how many hours
    Or how about a speed/consumption curve.
    So far, e power great for coastal cruising.
    On deck you would have to install a mini wind farm and a large solar array. 😅

  18. I would rather have a dashew beowulf- style monohull schooner. Pouring that much high tech material and sail area into a cat that will most likely end up upside down and trashed within a few years seems pointless. Conspicuous consumption. Less obnoxious than a bezos superyacht, but really? When that 2300 square foot of sail jams up on you in a squall, I guess you just radio to be rescued. What's the marina berth rental on a 60 foot length and thirty foot beam? The first coral bommie will rip the guts out of it anyway. Too much. Showing off wealth, not sailing. Do an episode on a David Devilliers expedition cat, a real boat.

  21. Finally SOME naval architects have changed from designing passive solar collector catamarans. And they should be designed for their intended purpose.

  25. Takes some effort to dissociate from this being a kind of superyacht – felt more like a ship, to be honest. But I really liked a lot of the philosophy I sense behind the design. Yes they designed and produced a boat for millionaires but I feel like the took the chance to built their preferences into it. I love that they don't use acrylic windows only real glass. I like how they designed their own boom so they can add functions to it – in general, adding secondary functions to structures that are there anyway.
    Also, Tamás didn't mention but I am sure they know that multihulls will always have more space than what you should want to actually fill with stuff. These boats can be overloaded easily if you are used to utilizing every possible space. Then they become slow and not that safe anymore. Making the large "targa-roof" above the rear part is also a smart long-distance / long endurance move, I see the same idea for many of the same reasons on Delos Explorer. I could spot the features supporting rainwater catchment before he mentioned it, also a huge plus.
    This specific ship in general is way too big for my taste but I wonder how a 45 footer would look like along the same lines. You may want to make a video about that too.
