Do you have an backup battery?
Nice for Harbor.
🇺🇸Great job young man. I built a solar canoe. Very impressive. I’m in York Pennsylvania. Good luck. Carry a personal AIS device
THa'ts pretty cool, but the LAST thing you want in the open ocean is LIGHT WEIGHT. Light weight = DEATH in the open acean. Neat lake boat though. Maybe if you swapped the Prop for a high effient pump, you can add weight back.
Again Light = DEATH in the open ocean.
Very cool, man. Very cool. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing where you take the whole idea
the idea is good but for me its not only impractical but also very dangerous, and a bad joke. its like say crossing an african safari reserved with a solar powered bicycle.
amazing
I love where you're going with this.
It won't give you the doldrums.
i subscribe.
nice yacht (or boat ) this gave me a vision👍
This guy 100% owns Bitcoin
You are the future. Go for it!
Awesome, Keep up the good work 👍🤙
Thank you for the inspiration.
HELL YUEEAHHH THIS IS SICK DO MORE NOW id want to do this one day
hope I can build off your awesome prototypes!
I would have used an existing catamaran hull of some sort. More surface area, less weight?
GREAT job anyway and looking forward to future developments! 😊
Couple 100 kilowatts storage with traction batterys 20kw generator for added power when the batteries are low and you need it two more motors (redundancy) and because you have the power now and in stormy conditions probably be able to make 15 knots at least drawing off the batteries or Jenny when needed and cruise at like you six or seven knots on solar
this is amazing
Efficiency is the Key! Very clever!
I thought it was BS until I heard the material it's made of…please don't take this on the ocean dude
Wonderful. Be safe. Maybe, if money allows, a used cat (larger roof plus fore deck space fir panels) or tri side mesh for amas) may be more efficient in water.
I hope you have not only the prerequisite boating safety gear but also the safety gear for going out to sea. Especially this time of the year the Atlantic is very cold. You don't have to be that far out to get hypothermia trying to swim back in! Hope you have a self inflatable life raft and cold suit or something equivalent.
Don't want to die of a preventable death. That doesn't mean you can't be out doing things! Just leave stupid behind!
"biohacking bed"????
So beautiful and efficient first version ! You re brilliant 😀
You lose all credibility when you say transatlantic capabilities.
It’s a cool boat but that’s not an ocean going vessel
As long as you throw in "ai controlled" you should be fine.
Awesome project ,👏. Have you thought of adding a small windmill and a small wave energy capture device to the setup for times of low sun ?
Nice bro! Working on something similar but catamaran body style for increased efficiency and stability
Awesome build please don’t take that for an ocean crossing.
This boat looks like a makeshift widebeam narrow boat. The British are absolutely packed with them. Lookup my favorite youtuber Cruising the Cut (David). I feel like you could get a gutted or base model widebeam and you could just upfit it to this.
If you wanted to go into big water id suggest outriggers, but i literally clicked on the video bc i thought someone customized a narrow boat. Itd save you a bunch of work. Can get them for $10k used to an average $60k all the way up to a $100k for a fully manufactured custom ordered boat. Just get the shell for cheap and outfit all the stuff on helios onto the widebeam. They do traditionally steer from an outside deck on the rear, but if you could change that.
Also i know you want to be completely self sufficient, but id suggest a multi fuel generator. Get an old hit or miss or something similar. SUPER simple and can work off gas, diesel, frying grease, old motor oil, whatever you want. A sail is nice, but if you need to get somewhere or fight a storm having actual generation can make a big difference. Can get a decent one for around $1k in the states, very efficient too.
Interesting. We used the same 6kW Epropulsion Navy 6 (2024 model) to do 1100 miles of the Great Loop in the USA on our 17 foot sailboat. We only had 600 watts of CIGS flexible solar though and our speeds were lower because of boat length. The Montgomery 17 has a 600 pound lead keel and mast so is probably nearly as heavy as your boat lol…or at least half the weight. We are thinking of making a solar river/lake cruiser after we finish the loop on this boat.
I would triple up on those electric motors! Try to pump that knot count up to around 10-15 cruising speed. Cross Atlantic travel at 7 knots will take you effing forever! I'll bet the Santa Maria could do over 10 knots cruising in good winds! Looks pretty cool tho. Gotta start somewhere! Keep pushing my guy! I pray for favorable winds, sunshine and calm waters in your future! God Speed and Good Luck!
That's a great looking homebuilt electric canal boat but you shouldn't take it in the open ocean. It will break up and you will die
Whatever you do, pal, please don’t attempt to cross oceans in that thing. It is a beautiful boat, but please keep it within his capabilities so that you stay alive.
Should throw a wind mill on there to.
Tremendously interesting ❤❤❤
