Best wishes. I've been sailing a Westerley 35 Ocean a few times this summer having started volunteering with the Morning Start Trust. We keep her – Bright Star (of Revelation) – at Northney Marina in Chichester harbour, along with two Sigma 38s. This year, I've sailed on her in the Solent, down to Newlyn and back from Plymouth. You've picked a sturdy sea worthy cruiser.
I' m 79 and, on a deserted beach, I'm now rebuilding my 45 years old catamaran 'Namaste' with which I slowly sailed 45 years ago from the Med to Thailand.
I hope to sail further east to Philippines and beyond when I'm 80+…if I survive! 😅!

I have great news for you mate: you are 76 today, this is the youngest you will ever be, enjoy. Truly an inspiring move. Our bodies age but we are still that 21 year old forever.
Bought my 37 ft Sloop 41 years ago when I was 40. Have been sailing it ever since and enjoy primarily day sails on the Chesapeake Bay. Looking forward to your subsequent videos.

way to go dave , i am 56 and looking to do the same , yesterday i managed to fall down the stairs , thankfully nothing broke , just bruising and cuts , i wonder how i will stay on deck with my shaky legs
At 73, I am on my fifth sailboat and still married! A lovely plywood epoxy 37 ft trimaran, sails lovely but requires regular repairs which keeps me busy and active here in the US Virgin Islands. I will quit when I am good and ready and it’s not yet!
