8. I would take the Garcia Exploration 60 over this in a heartbeat. Don’t know why Halberg won’t update their designs. Great quality. Have always been a fan, but other designs are passing them by.

9. I would be very interested to know what the deck was, it looks like the traditional teak has been replaced by composite. Véry sensible. Does anyone know?

21. At Hallberg, they always manage to create an even more beautiful sailing yacht! This one just might make it onto my Christmas wish list.

    A good candidate for "Yacht of the Year" in my opinion.

22. I just wonder under what circumstances you see someone sailing around the world in this – or any long term cruise? The boat is 50 tons all day. While they are very well built – better than Oysters for instance – the only way I can see a long cruise is with professional crew. And the boat doesn't have crew specific accomodation.
    The issue with all HR's is displacement. The biggest displacement that a couple can handle in all conditions with clever design is around 20 tons. Some people will say that with bow thrusters, electric winches etc which makes those items a huge trap. If any of these aids have issues then you can't sail the boat easily or possibly at all.
    I have an 18m/60ft boat which is 18 tons fully loaded, though I usually sail it at 17 tons. I commonly sail it by myself or with my wife and often dock it singlehandedly. I have no bow thruster, nor do I need or want one. I do have three electric winches but they are far from necessary. My wife can hoist the fully battened main by herself without electric assistance and this is something we practice a few times a year. My wife too singlehands the boat frequently. My sail area is a fraction of the HR69 at 110m² and I believe this is about the upper limit for most men and women to handle.
    To dock a 50 ton boat you need to be really quite good. If some idiot wraps a line around a cleat and tries to stop the boat with it then that same person may well be the recipient of said cleat at high velocity. Fifty tons is a lot of momentum and people can get hurt.
    So who is this boat aimed at really? Is it the Oyster crowd? Because they really only do that stuff with pro crew and having their hands and who knows what else held on the Oyster World Rally. Maybe it's just a marina to marina boat for Scandinavia to the Mediterranean with the odd trip to Saint Barts. It certainly isn't really good for the South Pacific, SE Asia or the Indian ocean, and it's too deep for the Bahamas or most of the US east coast.
