  1. For those who want to directly shoot at orcas, think about this: they are intelligent and they for now attack only boats, how long will they be to directly attack and kill people once they learn we are a direct menace to their lives?

  2. In the Netherlamds a wolve attacked a kid. In the end it was allowed to shoot the wolve, although they are protected by law. The life of the kid was more important than the life of the wolve.

If the authorities handled the orcas better then it would have been solvable…. now too many orcas have this behaviour. So… to protect your life – self defence – i think this is a good solution. Not killing the orcas but scare them, hurt them…. and maybe they will stop doing this. The only thing… will this hurt them perminantly?

  3. In the US commercial fishermen are allowed to buy and use what we called "seal charges". to scare away seals. They come weighted and provide a nice boom underwater.

  4. People who keep saying "it’s their territory, we shouldn’t be there" have severe mental issues, and almost always live in a city and have never gone anywhere except a park. Humans are natural animals, just like any other animal. Any animal would exploit any resource it could to thrive. Nature, by our standards, is horribly cruel. As far as I’m concerned we have every right to be out on the water, and to save lives we have the right to do what’s necessary. If I was a sailor I’d have a freaking harpoon gun on deck.

  5. Кто тебе внушил идиотскую чушь про углеродный след и зеленую повестку!? Ты производишь впечатление здорового человека, при первом взгляде!

  6. We use Chinese firecrackers, about 12 gauge size, $0.50 each, waterproof fuses. Scares of great whites biting fishing boat propellers. Chuck safely away from dorsal fins. One or two does the job.
    Beautiful animals, no harm needed.

  7. So… it’s a orca depth charge.
Instead of this, can the sound level be replicated electronically? Perhaps a tow behind buoy that plugs in to boat power to charge and creates a sonic boom with underwater speakers?

  8. I still reckon it comes down to the link between humans. And their food diminishing, eg fish. Hard to attack fishing boats. But yachts 👍🏻 or option 2, it's a game

  9. Why are you so sacred and apologetic? It’s just fire crackers, a small measure to prevent a much larger disaster… good info.

  10. Told you last time dude depth charges that's what I was using and everyone was laughing at me . Another one is to cork the blow holes of the orca long pole big cork and when they come along side they get plugged then they have to swim on their backs do one or two and the others don't fuck with you . Killer whales need killer ideas.

  11. The result of change in earth's magnetic field? It's now 68% of what it was in 1870s – Carrington event. Ppl go bunkers too in periods with higher influx of Corona Mass Ejections from the sun.

  12. Once had thunder flashes floated down a river while I was pulling myself across. When these went off you felt it in your special places – it’s like a strange kick. No permanent damage done and I can see why an Orca wouldn’t be impressed.

  13. If Orca's are so intelligent … WHY are they attacking boats? I heard about this a couple of years ago but it seems the instances are spreading – it is becoming more and more of a problem. They talk to each other and seemingly they are 'spreading the behaviour pattern. I'm just curious as to why they attack the boats; it's not as though the boats are any type of threat to them and they can surely perceive that the boat isn't any kind of competitor for food etc – they would realize human beings use the boats to travel. Is their grievance with us as a species? What does Man do to Orcas? I don't think they themselves are targeted by any form of hunting or fishing by us… Some countries, naming and shaming; Japan, Norway, Iceland, Faeroe Isles used to or still hunt other species of whales – but I don't think they went for Orcas? I see a lot of comments about rudders; do they (intelligently) attack the rudder because it allows control of direction of the boat – thus they simply want to stop the boat from moving…? In short; what does an Orca have to gain by this behaviour?

  14. Are orcas only attacking plastic boats. Is it a particular rudder configuration that is mostly targeted. Do they damage skeg mounted rudders

  15. Orcas are extremely intelligent and rational animals with a great capability of communicating with each other. The main problem, and also solution, is that Orcas need to start being afraid of humans again. I doubt you can accomplish that without hurting them. Orcas haven't really bothered humans in a long time. But now they are. As far as understand, the problem is similar to Grizzly Bears and Polar Bears. And the solution is for humans to once again step into their own, animal, evolutionary role as an animal, and come armed and dangerous.
I could hypothesize that loud firecrackers actually do hurt the Orcas. It could be that they damage their sensitive sonar hearing and orientation sense. But I think most humans would be personally more ethically okay with that, than shooting harpoons or big game rifle bullets into them. …Which is the alternative. What is actually better, I don't know.

  16. Orcas weren't so bold in the days of our forefathers because they recognized our apex predator status, now that we act weak they exploit that, food for thought.

  17. I have one idea 💡. We could enlist orcas in the Portuguese navy and put them in charge of dealing with the Russian submarines that are circling our waters.

  18. I don't sail but I have some people that annoy me. Would explosives work on humans in the same way? I don't want to hurt them, just make them go away. Like, when I am having a quiet coffee in a cafe and I want to deter a talkative table near me. Has anybody tried this?
