  1. Some spectacular seas and views! Thanks for having us along. Don’t you put the mug in the sink when pouring? If it does spill, at least it doesn’t go everywhere?

  2. You need a cup with a lid! I have one and I drink my coffee out of it..in my nice stable chair, at my stable desk, in my nice stable office. And I have still had spills to clean up!

  3. Hi Patrick,
    I love the channel.
I’ve always worried about the lack of quality sleep you get when solo sailing. Do you have a max time that you would be prepared to travel in one stint on coastal or Bluewater routes?
Also, once you have finished a long stint, what do your sleeping patterns look like?
    Thanks,
    Daniel.

  4. So peaceful watching this as the cities of the USA are being looted, burnt down by evil elements. I so wish I was out on a boat in these waters. Alone with nature. The peace is out of this world. Thank you for sharing this journey.

  5. Just re-watching because I enjoyed it first time. Bet you can't wait to embark on some Casual Single Handed Sailing…;-)

  6. Patrick, Please tell me. What makes a guy get up in the morning and say:- 'You know what? I think I'll sail to one of the coldest places on earth (it's not called 'Iceland' because it sells popcicle sticks) and risk freezing my gonads for a few Youtube videos'. ……..Much appreciated but I'd still watch you if you sailed the Greek Islands. 🙂 Keep 'em coming.

  7. 12:51 fenders outside on a cruising ship with 4 adults is rediculous and i would laugh .. single hand sailors with fixed fenders are serious and well prepared. Dont give too much on their opinions.

  8. Greetings from Finland! When I first saw your video I thought you were from Finland because your name is common in here. One of our best ice hockey players is Patrik Laine. In Finnish language a word laine means a wave and it is also one of most common family names in Finland. But if you bang into the Finnish word lainelauta, it is a surfboard in English. Sorry about my couple of minutes mistake? And now to episode 40. And thank you for your videos.

  9. Legend 343, I agree!
I also enjoy very much, that Patrick´s videos are not damaged by stupid, loud music
like others of this kind of! That makes it much more realistic, and easier to feel with him,
and to dream, I would be really with him, or in his place,
Because of that, and maybe to remind our own turns we are watch his films, isn´t it?
Thank you Skip, you took us with you! 😎👍

  10. Hi Patrick, I'm really enjoying watching your videos. Delighted you were here in Ireland. I am sure people mentioned already, but Rockall is more than just a rock to be avoided! It is an area disputed by Ireland, UK, Iceland, and Denmark. Oil basin/ fisheries etc (the usual!). It is fairly well known in these parts, but I say leave it to the birds. Hope you come back our way soon. Keep up the great work

  11. ….good hint: just ordered the CA Cruising Guide since I want to explore Island on my Ohlson 35 next year (coming from Norway and do it the other way around as you did).

  12. Ahoy Patrick! I only occasionally drop by on your channel and I am so happy to see you are still pursuing your adventures (just figured out not with Bavaria anymore?) and making excellent videos. Fair winds!

  13. When you set that hot chocolate down, I thought to myself, "I hope it doesn't spill." Sure enough, you had a great story to follow. Sorry about your hot chocolate woes! -Phantom Shipmate

  14. As I work my way through your videos, I find that you have a unique skillset with regards to reading the weather and making adjustments as necessary. I am fascinated by your pragmatic approach, no doubt learned through years of being a naval aviator. Have you ever thought of producing "off season" content specific to reading and understanding the weather? I think there is a real need for weather specific content such as 1) weather acquisition while at sea (Iridium Go!, Garmin InReach, etc.), 2) reading the weather and clouds/cloud formations, 3) adjusting sail plans according to weather reports, etc. 4) reading pilot charts for current probabilities. Sort of a MASTER CLASS if you will. Anyways…just my two cents. You are a GREAT teacher and I learn so much by watching your videos. Keep up the great content. THANK YOU!
