Thanks guys, great episode
5.7K+ LIKE posted at 16:22, 82,535rd view – now there's one of many 'Kodak moments'. Thanks for taking this desktop Phantom Shipmate along for the adventure.
That last shot of Desiree with the lowlands in the background and the other island in the distance was the icing on the cake. Again, ONLY twenty minutes? Please repost some of your spectacular drone footage or scenes of your excursions around the island. You can still narrate your story, but we don't need to always see your faces when there is so much amazing scenery around you!
19:57 – "The Shadow Knows"…
Fantastic episode guys. I would suggest you remove the circuit board with the problem connector and re-solder the joint between the pin and the copper tracks on the back side. My experience makes me think that the joint has cracked.
It’s said that Zeus punished Sisyphus for cheating death twice by making him roll an immense boulder up a hill only to have it roll down again and again for an eternity. In today’s terms it’s the maintenance tasks for sailing couples that are the punishment for cheating death on a passage!
you are sooo lucky to be able to make that trek. i envy you.
You guy's are the best storytellers keep up the good work i can't wait for the next video.
love this episode! Hard work climbing really paid off. Burlington Bill here songwriter of Sailing to Freedom.
Best excursion I have ever seen! Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks for sharing a truly epic adventure, well done and stay safe!
Thank you guy’s, what a awesome adventure and experience. That is take your breath away for sure.
WOW
Amazing, enjoyable, exciting, fun and you guys living the dream!
I just love the way you both capture life's adventures!
Awesome Content… Thanks!
LOL jordan your face when you were knocking on wood was hilarious dude!!
WOW – that excursion looked soooo amazing – thank u guys for sharing that one.
Boats require constant maintenance. This constant maintenance chews up money. Therefore, IMHO people buying their first cruising sailboat should consider 35-foot sailboats rather than something larger unless they are rather wealthy.
I just finished 3200 miles (on Avemar, an 87 Liberty 38 that looks amazingly like your boat above the waterline) and broke TWO whisker poles on the trip. Unfortunately, prior to that I had given away the huge, heavy spinnaker pole thinking that I didn't need it with an asymmetrical chute. Now I'm in the market for a new whisker pole lol. Enjoying your videos.
rafted together is strange? You might have get used to it. My worst experience was at a Denmark Island before a storm: several packages of up to 7 boats.
Autopilot and others: As far as I see, you just connected bare wires. IMHO those fine marine grad cable should be terminated by a wire terminations (hope to get the right name) and then plugged in the instrument.
One of my favorite Atticus videos yet! Loved the mountain climb! You two are amazing!
You NEVER disappoint. Such a wonderful video…again! Love you all! 💕😎💕😎💕
I’d say one of my favorite videos you’ve done. The hiking was my “yes” please! I hiked a mountain 8500 ft. level in the Sierra/Nevada’s. Breath taking and mind altering!
That is one of your best videos you've done.Congrats on a great adventure!
Are there more episodes after this ? I love your videos.
That was the coolest hike/climb EVER! Great views. After the Atlantic crossing that was a major change if pace! Enjoy your stay! Sail on Atticus!
👍
They say the best things in life are free. They've never climbed a volcano to watch the sunrise.
Wow! Great video. That was a fantastic view from the top. That will be something you guys will never forget!
No it looks great looks like artsy
How long do you plan to be in the Azores and have you found a crew to help you in the passage to the mainland? love this journey.
My family is from there, lived there at Lajes air force base for a few years as a teenager, such an amazing place that most people don't even know exists, thanks for helping bring some attention to it and for the incredible shots, brings back alot of good memories!
I feel your pain Jordan my wife, two kids and I do a lot of backpacking and I’m always the pack mule on our trips lol all the extras go on my back
Poor Buddy shes doing very well
A W E S O M E E P I S O D E! The views were breathtaking on video and I can only imagine what they were like in person! Azores is definitely on my bucket list! Thanks for sharing!
Great episode! Quite the challenging hike, but sure looks like it was well worth the work. If you have time before the next leg, I would suggest checking the solder connections where that connector plugs in, with that sideways stress and the vibration during the sail it could have developed some micro cracks in the solder joints. Probably ok, but I'd feel better knowing the connection is solid.
Your NAC-3! You may have damaged the copper track and/or solder joint on the the circuit board as well. I would have removed the circuit board and checked the solder joint.
That's why I stay in United States that's why I don't leave the United States
What a climb…that was AWESOME! Thank you!!
Marcia here…Thank you for sharing your amazing videos…you're living the life that a lot of us wish we had done when we were young..Be safe and enjoy…incredible adventures behind you and forward..The way that you share them in your videos, allows me to transcend to your experience and share it as best I can…
I’m concerned for you regarding the autopilot terminal block that’s not secure. I recommend disassembly to the point that you can see what part has failed. It’s possible that the terminal block is soldered to the circuit board beneath it, and that the solder has cracked. Once disassembled, the solder joint can be reflowed pretty easily. If this is the problem and you don’t reflow the joint, it’s just a matter of time until the problem returns.
Whoa, that was an amazing hike! Of course I quickly went and googled how to get to the Azores…I’ll never likely cross the pond on a sailboat, but flights are doable! I loved visiting Portugal in 2019, next time, going to the Azores for sure! And I don’t think one can ever have too many snacks… 🤪
I think I would pay the extra $$$ to ride the tram!
Epic hike!
