Looks like Outremer knocked it out of the park with the 52. Such a great boat with a balanced design throughout. Comfort, speed and reliability all in a great looking package, what more can one ask for?. Still a bit tight for me on the inside but it looks extremely well built and must be fast. Wishing you a similarly great boat to sail and live on in the near future. Fantastic episode!

  2. Hey Guys, really like this cat but I have question for you, How do you guys feel about what is in reality very exposed helm positions (except the most inboard setting)? There seams to be no sun protection available? We all know what that sun can do.

  3. The sailors make the show, not the boat. You 2 have the talent to make anything work, remember what Tyra Banks always says, use your assets and work it work it!!!!!!

  4. It is so nice to be able to sail in those "Champaign Conditions". I wish a used Outremer 51 was in my price range. I think that Versahelm is awesome.

  5. There's one anchored next to me right now in Suva. Beautiful, full carbon mast, cross beam, boom stanchions. French flagged.

  6. If you consider this beautiful boat and how complex the rigging and control can be; imagine something like a 1790 frigate (are of wooded sail) with three masts and square sails and all those ropes and blocks, and clues . . .
    If only I was 20 years younger and $20 million richer . . .

  7. Sadly I’m getting rather lost with your Chanel….You passed or lost out on loads of boats but you advise others on buying.

You were looking at old boats you could afford but you love new boats you can’t afford!

    Doesn’t everyone!

Being only two you could buy a lot smaller more sustainable affordable boat.

You obviously don’t want to go back to land so you and your Chanel are drifting – to use a boat term.

It must be hard for you and our journey with you is drifting too.

  8. did you know Sailing La Vagabonde are selling their previous Outremer. They did have a brother working it as a Charter but times changed .
    Worth a look into
    SurfingLife with Malcolm

  9. Another sailing couple bought a boat with a 2-year delivery time, then bought a second one for less than $50k just to putter around in until theirs was ready. Sold it for the same price they bought it.

  10. Really like the halyard lines positioned separately. This is done often in other designs, but Outremer has figured out how to get them in close proximity to the Helm, yet out of the way. Asymmetrical cockpit is really sweet as well. But my biggest takeaway is learning of 3D Sheeting. I made a barber hauler for our previous cat (Helia 44), but never occurred to me that something could be setup permanently, and just bypass the tracks all together. Going to think about this for our Leopard 42. Do they have separate clutches for those two lines? And I guess you just used both winches; one for the working jib sheet and one for the 3D Sheet?? Also, I can't exactly tell where they positioned the blocks on the coachroof, port and starboard. Are they positioned somewhere along the placement of where traditional tracks would be found? Sorry for peppering so many questions, but this is super cool. You need this boat. But you'll need to brush up on your French. Remember, it's Bob, not Bob. Or is it Bub? 🤣

  11. Nick, the way you say “Outremer”, drips with Joy and Respect. Your loyal followers surely noticed this years ago. And Megan has never looked so happy. Either she is pregnant, or you’re getting an Outremer! Out with it already.

  12. Thanks a lot O’kelly’s! You’ve ruined me for any other boat but an Outremer 52!
Just kidding. However, you’re excellent video review and tour of Awen sure is going to make it hard to settle with an older boat. Keep the great videos coming!

  13. My oh my! Sailing on these great boats is going to make it that much harder for you to settle on something less. Be careful….😎😊

  14. are you all gettin an OUTREMER and joining up the WORLD GALAGA CIRCLE GREATNESS thing??

    DID YOU DECIDE????

it is quite an an upgrade from a lagoon they say 😉

  15. Why, why dont Outremer or other boatbuilding companies give you a brand spankin new 55 cat? I mean, everybody knows you can handle it.
What better commercials can they get? Unless they are bad?
Perhaps its no wounder Johan, Malin and Vera are building there own boat all by them self from scrath! (Typical swedish, vikings).. I mean sailing Ran is no beginners, far, far from it.
    Best of luck to all!
… (will never forgive Johan from scraping the big dragon head , ha ha 😉

  16. I know this might be a silly question…and is intended with humor… I was looking at Gunboats (updated) website and the new 70'er – they mention the sail plan as been updated for "Short Handed Crew"…What would Gunboat's definition of Short Handed be? 4 people or a couple? LOL. Money no object, would you go for the new 70' Gunboat?

  17. yea that would be totally diff kind of sailing than most peeps are used to….

AIMING FOR THE SQUALLS CUZ YOU CAN RIDE THAT KIND OF WINDAGE!!!!

    cool… very cool….

been following CATGREATCIRCLE or those words in whatever the right way is, on the galacagacola around the wrold thingie they are on…

ORDER OF Magellan 1987 USS OKINAWA LPH3 WORLD CRUISE….

  18. someone was just selling one that was on the world rally…. did they sell it yet??? how liquid is your cash, liquid enuf to go JOIN THE RALLY on that boat?? lol it was a couple stops ago when the peeps had to leave the rally for health issues…

  19. Just turned 50, get one in '26, still gives you a good 40 years of sailing with it! Worth the wait. Get jobs on Sailing Below Deck in the interim to keep you busy.

  20. If you guys are still in the Med come see us in Palma to see our very different family liveaboard performance cat, Komotion. Great boats are still out there and don't have to cost millions or keep you waiting for years! Sometimes you just need to widen the net a little and see potential where others see drawbacks!!
