😥RIP Peanut, you sacrificed yourself for the safety of your crew, someone somewhere will give you a new life.
So sorry for the loss of "Peanut." Your trusty friend in need who had to be sacrificed for a worthy cause. I've no doubt she'll be replaced at a suitable time and place. Enjoy the beer. Take care you two.
Sorry for Peanut, but things happen.
As long as you are well, everything is allright!
Love from Denmark
I have had an Yamaha 4HP once – I have had 3. It used to start in one stroke, like this (anytime of year):
Full choke. power handle on mark "idle/start". As soon as it ignited you had to turn off the choke and add a little power. Try this 🙂
Oh, that’s too bad about poor peanut, at least you were a hero and got the motor! Going to the Kimberly’s again, that’s so awesome, that area is unbelievable!
Magnus is looking like Donald M Street! Any Kin?
Welcome back! Had the VB all sold out? It appears you have had to resupply with an inferior product.😂 Love the pearling history in Broome.
That’s sad. Maybe have boat filling buoyancy bags for long passages? Just a thought. Joyful sailing.
Sorry you lost peanut you two, i bet you are glad you are back in Oz in the sun, we are on flood alert, Loughboroug got it bad to. Stay Safe Regards Clive & Dawne
Put an Apple AirTag on the next one.. If someone finds it, you’ll know.
So sorry to hear about peanut. Being from the NE USA, that was one of the most robust aluminum boats I’ve ever seen.
I’m sure Cashew will provide years of similar service and enjoyment.
Safe travels
All the best
I have been watching since the longboats in the UK R I P Peanut happy you are both safe I’m planning a road trip nth to the cape this year I will beep my horn when I drive past Airlie, thanks for all tha adventures you have taken me on
Hello, my darlings!
I'm so sorry that you had to lose Peanut😒
I can remember you working so hard on her to make her the wonderful 'companion' that she was to Nutshell, and the many ventures that you made with her!
Thank goodness, however, that you're both ok, even though you riskily saved her outboard, before deciding to cut her free, not to further endanger Nutshell!
So glad that you're back in Australia!
All love and best wishes to you both, Claire, Tommi the rescue dog, and Amber, the rescue cat, aka 'the new sofa crew'😊
❤❤❤
Hello Wendy and Magnus, You 2 have sailed a Lot of years and a Lot of miles, these things can happen, Happy that You are Both ok, and I am sure You will find something similar, I understand why You have a bigger dinghy for Fishing and exploring. Best Regards⛵🌞
These storm popping up out there out of no where this season. Safe travels to nutshell and crew.
Poor Peanut
What else would one expect towing an open dinghy in such conditions? I used a foam-filled Polycraft, unsinkable, with no outboard and the bungs out it is self-draining.
I never towed it on a passage. I hoisted, then stowed it on padded rests and bowsed it down inverted on foredeck. I also bought it new, with a trailer, in safety yellow because foam filled it qualifies by SOLAS as a survival aid. Also, having pontoons integral with the sides, it is stable enough to make getting in and out of the vessel easy, and being plastic, it is easy on paint and fenders. Also, I have screwed an extra seat, and a canopy to it which goes on if I am doing any fishing over shallow water. Try screwing a canopy on to an inflatable. The Polycraft I have is the heavy version, Heavier than a tinnie, but I think lighter than the ever-leaking pain in the arse Zodiac it replaced. It will take a 15 hp outboard, but all I ever used was 3.5 horsepower. Ten would have been nice though.
Very sad news about peanut. You guys put so much effort into making her right. We’re going to miss her. But I’m sure you’ll make plans for her replacement and carry on to more adventures and great videos. Thanks again for taking us along, you’re a real trooper Wendy!
Im so sorry you lost peanut!! I had a feeling this was going to happen based in the conditions in the last video 😢. I know you will get through and overcome this challenge as well stay safe out there 🍻🍻🍻
Sorry to learn about your loss of Peanut, thought towing a diggy Middle Ocean is a big risk not in one's favor, as sadly you found out. You will not be the first of the last to lose dingy this way. However, sharing an experience I had owning 3 well-known brands of inflatables, All had fallen apart. Fed up I Bought an Ocean Craft Aluminium 2nd hand Dingy. build in QLD it looks like an inflatable, instead of the rubber tubes they and the hull are all built-in Aluminum. It is so stable it is a joy I modified it also by adding my rubber rowlocks that fit my zodiac when it failed, I glued them on the tubes with JW weld. Handy it when my motor fails or I need a workout I can row. I call my dingy Ki-Tal (it's the first few letters of my two grandchildren's first names)
I can confirm this it is fantastic dingy as it has a high capacity for carrying loads and will never sink or fall apart or need to blow it up. I should outlive my young grandchildren it is so well-built. It sits on my foredeck as My boat is 15 meters so I mount it on the foredeck tube cradle. I had to modify it as Love my staysail masthead cutter rigg setup,
I had a welder cut down by 70cm to just under 11' fit inside the staysail stay chain plate. I'm sharing my experiences since you are replacing Peanut, may I suggest looking into possibly buying a 2nd had Ocean Craft dinghy this may be worth checking out. If you need some more info I can send you photos of my setup, send me info on how to. Keep up the roaring adventures you're both very good at it. SV Skoiern IV.
Ah poor aul peanut. B.
I gathered you didn’t have any bilge pumps on peanut a must when towing in ruff sea how many months behind real time was this video because you wouldn’t be there in January
In my many years of sailing, I’ve seen or heard about many lost dinghies. In all cases they were towed and most simply disappeared. Peanut’s demise was unfortunately catastrophic. Happy you retrieved the motor and that you didn’t go the way of peanut. If you get another tinny, I strongly suggest that you invest in an Apple air tag so you can keep track of it. In such terrible conditions, you could cut it loose and heave to to ride out the storm, then track the tinny with the air tag.⛵️⛵️⛵️
Not even off the dock yet and spoted a bottlo 😂 can't half tell you are back in aus 😂
Been back for while by now, I guess?
Sorry that you lost peanut. Get something that can lift onto the deck and not drag behind you
RIP Peanut… You brought us some amazing memories!!
Sorry about Peanut. Good thing the engine was previously removed. Some fisherman got a present.
Oh no guy's sad time for good ol peanut!! RIP PEANUT. Main thing is that you both are safe and well! Thanks for another great episode guy's cheers.
Unfortunate news about Peanut. But the main thing is, Nutshell and yourselves are still safe. Happy New Year for 2024. Look forward to New journeys or plans you have for 2024.. Keep Safe…
I have been amazed how long peanut survived being towed along. The temporary loss of the motor was a warning of things to come! I suppose it was too cumbersome to put peanut onto Nutshell's deck before the rough weather as staibility was always going to be a problem.
Poor wee Peanut she served you well xx
shelling out for a new peanut bugger not that its any use to you facebook market place have a large selection
Hello to u both, very sad poor peanut glad u guys are okay and glad you had the outboard motor on board I love Broome and the people from WA 🙏✌️
It’s like losing a beloved member of the family. RIP Peanut, or is it RIP – Redeployed Indonesian Peanut?😉
Did you have a light bulb moment when you left the dinghy on a piece of rope on the back of your boat 🛶
Let border force know about Peanut so they won’t be looking for a yacht if they find it and they can drop it off In Darwin for you, easy
Towing a dinghy offshore. Humm .You know better
Put a ribbed cover on your next tinnie like a ute cover. Get it self draining bungs.😊
It was bound to happen at least the fish will enjoy it glad it didnt destroy the yacht
Its like losing one of the family, but maybe some penniless family found her…
