Love your channel. Just ordered a shirt.

Please keep an eye out for Boundless and Teleu. They just crossed the canal a couple weeks ago and are headed your way! They are great people.

  2. so great to see you on the wind again! mazatlan is a fantastic town. the people and food are incredible, and I love the little open-air taxis they have up and down the promenade. of course, the last time I was there was before my daughter was born and now she's 22 LOL

  3. Don't tell me you two don't know how to get the most out of a belaying pin…… so many times you guys uncoil a line / rope from around a belaying pin when you could just pull the pin and release the entire coil all at once. THAT'S HOW THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO WORK!
Ahem.. Ok, rant over… love your videos!

  4. Hi, I know you two know Mexicio fairly well. Once you get more local, the best hardware stores are the little Mexican ones where you stand at a counter. Some of them are actually as large as the whole block. And some do carry really neat old style woodworking tools, bronze, brass, all kinds of neat stuff. When you hit Mazatlan, head to where the fish boats are. 10 years ago I think there were hundreds of them. Well, near the docks you can still find wooden boat repair shops. I used to get ship wrights from there and bring them to PV to work on projects. Worth a wander.

  5. I've been watching you since the start when you were building Rediviva. Have to ask why do you insist on using "soup" for the decks and cabin top. It been bugging me for years. They constantly look as if they never had a lick of paint or varnish? Why do you choose to use your homemade soup rather than a marine varnish or a two part epoxy paint that would probably last longer?

  6. Upon someone seeing your boat, obviously home built, they must be in awe as they sail by in their store bought vessel. I remain so, episode after episode. You two are among the few. I reek with admiration. Thanks for doing this. Best.

  7. Such a pleasure to watch your videos! Great music choices, composition, everything. I look forward to them more than any other.

  8. Thank you for returning to your roots. These last couple of episodes have been very enjoyable. The vicarious enjoyment of wooden boats and sailing is the best I can do and when you are in this mode you two are the best there is.

  9. Garrett and Ruth,

The bird eating it's catch in flight was cool; a rare video clip. Also, the rock formation at 11 minutes and 40 seconds into the episode looks like a big hand waving sailors "un buen viaje."

I couldn't help but notice the big smiles: Garrett in the hardware store and Ruth when y'all lifted anchor to leave harbor. It's always a pleasure to watch y'all's videos.
    Thank y'all for sharing.
    Cheers!

    Blue Skies and Fair Winds.

    Faithfully,

    James

  10. When the destination is far off, the concept of ‘If the going is good, just keep going’, will serve you well. Because sometimes the going ain’t so great!

  11. Enjoying another session on your channel and noticed a Fisherman [
hershoff] housed in chocks on the cabin top, is that the anchor Memo gave you ?, the reason i ask is that i gave a Fisherman to Him to give to you before He left San Rafael [Sausalito] and never found out if you got it, anyway it looks like you are headed His way. Fair winds.
