Your dog reminds me a lot of "Roxy," on board "Sweet Ruca" now sailing up the west coast of South America and Patagonia.
One was for sure a cockle the second is up for debate lol.
Love your videos, you two! Could watch you for hours!
fl clam farmer your ok to eat them just cook and eat right after catching them Don't eat them raw from hot water;
You gotta leave the cockles in saltwater bath for an hr and they will purge the sand before you cook them. Great episode ❤
I see that you’re wearing a Overton Marien cooling shirt is that your profession that you do?
Now you know about another treasure from the sea.
Just sitting here watching this episode thinking about the choices you have made to live your life.
Watching Sierra cleaning off all the dead bugs. Some people, living the life, might think this is such an inconvenience and hassle.
Then, flashing back to all the backbreaking tedium and hard work you guys put in with Mountain Myst also knowing that your daily lives require you to produce this high quality content to share for the internet monster.
Have been along for the ride since Neverland. Good thing too since I haven't gotten out there as much as I would like lately. Love the new boat, your improvements and learning about the features that make your sailing more enjoyable and safer.
Thanks
Maybe you guys should build a aluminum catamaran also. The Tula 49
I love getting the notification mid day of a new video. Get the rest of the days into station to watching the episodes adventure unfold. Really fun stuff thanks for sharing.😊
So what sharks are good and bad
I clean my shell fish by soaking them in fresh water overnight with a fist full of porridge oats, they eat the oats and and self clean. when cooking I add a drop of white wine and cream and serve with french bread and beer. I sometimes even share … but only sometimes!! … I hope ye found Jack and ye can report that Jetty and he are still friends keeping in touch by K9 webcams. Learning to work without relying instruments is a great idea for those occasions that you described, I turn off our electricity supply occasionally to remind us just how good we have it in life and give the kids the sense of what it was like to live back in the dark ages when I was a kid, that and when I need some peace from their music! 😉 Great video and wonderful story telling… Stay Safe & Fair Winds!! ☘
WoW! Beautiful drone pictures!!!!
Your new boat is really sweet!
Another great episode y’all! While watching I just can’t help but think that your parents must be so proud of y’all! Stay safe out there!
We need to get you back to New England and teach you to say "scollup". You say it like an O not an A. Fun video!
Jetty seems to be getting a little more gray around the face 😊 hes an old seadog.
👍
I dont think its a scallop, they're more flat..
Right itsa clam..
We call those butter clams. You keep them in a bucket for a day or two and they will pure the sand and mud. Then a day in the bucket with corn meal. Steam them and serve with drawn butter with a good bit of garlic. Yum.
Lite flourocarbon leader and use smaller butterfly jigs. Use 2 on the same line. Tie a dropper loop!
Sierra: Hiiii!! Dolphin: hhrrr!!
The shark appeared to moving next to your sailing machine at impressive speed. (Shark-power). 😊 The clear water is stunning to view through.
I remember that dog.
You can tell Jetty really loves her mommy! ❤
White popcorn or yellow popcorn? White 1, Yellow 0
In our Exuma travels under, we found what the natives call "Buttery lucine" which resembles a clam. Other finds were Prickly cockle whose shell was scallop like. We found the season for harvesting these were in the Cruising Guide. Believing the months of February through May but don't tie us to the dates. Otherwise, if you allow this shelled object to rest in cornmeal until the sand is filtered out, *(approximately 24hrs) the sand may be flushed? Sorry about Jack, I'm sure he is in a good home since you both donated towards the abundant Homeless dog population in the Bahamas. Excellent episode, this channel is best for content and cinematography/editing we have found on Utube Sailing.
Blue squid jag is all you need. Blue is best.
love every upload! so cool the friends you found when diving this time.
Love your posts so real and fun
do you watch the news there is bad guys in the Bahasa
there are gans are is island there every where not just the us
For the clams, fry garlic and cilantro in olive oil then add the clams until they are open. That's the Portuguese style.
And of course, leave them in a saltwater bucket/basin for several hours to get rid of the sand.
Top, we plan to sail to Bodrum Turkey in sommer
If I were your age I would follow your example! Love your Journeys and love of life and each other.
Thank you
Love your channel always enjoy and look forward to your next one
There is one sure thing you two eat vary well from the Ocean, Enjoyed the Video, Thanks for sharing
I would love to talk with you two about life on the water.
We traveled as a family of 5 for 10 years via RV.
The kids are grown, and starting their own chapters in life.
We are selling our ranch in NY, and heading south. We have been doing a lot of research, and really like the lagoon 380.
It's coming together, and only a matter of time before we start our latest chapter.
Thank you, & Safe travels.
Conception Island seems to be the place for sharks. Jack on SV Zatara just posted a video. It’d be cool for you & Billy to meet up with the Whitakers. Jetty’s like “hey bud, what are doing, don’t feed me to the sharks”. 😍
THERE CLAMS
TUFF…
Hey guys. Did you not learn to purge clams, cockles, etc of sand using corn meal or another similar ground meal when you were cruising up here in the PacNW? All you have to do is put the shellfish in a pail of seawater with the meal and give them a day or two, changing the water every six to eight hours so the O2 in the water is replenished. The shellfish get largely if not totally sand free within two days, three at the most. Been doing it all my life, and it really works. My theory is that, by eating the meal, they also put on weight, sort of like corn finishing a beef that has fed solely on grass. We don't even consider eating clams and cockles without giving them a day or two in the pail to clean out the sand.
Best sailing channel!!! Someday I’ll meet you two….
