  1. I lost my mother last year at 90. She experienced the women’s movement. On behalf of her, my great wife, my daughter… we thank you! As a guy who gets scared in 20-knots on our Corsair F24, I say “wow”. We loved your story. Be safe Cole… all you adventurers out there be safe!

  2. No big deal. Sailboats and the technology that hundreds of men have invented – from GPS to radios, Starlink, autopilot etc, tested and manufactured by brave men over the years, have made sailing so simple even us women can now sit on a sailboat and let it steer across the world. Funny to see middle aged women pretend like it is some great accomplishment. Just wait for a woman to sit in a self-driving tesla on a "record" drive across the country or world. Stupid "record".

  3. Nature can be scary but people are waaaaay SCARIER. I have a sailboat ⛵️ and have been through life threatening storms but none of that compares to EVIL people are capable of. I would rather be in a storm any day than with a bad person.

  4. Sailing around the world isn't or doesn't have to be all that dangerous, but sailing around the world in a race, that's another thing entirely… you don't have the luxury of timing your passages with the weather, that's when it becomes dangerous!

  5. Not wanting to detract from Brauer's huge achievement, but for some historical context the first woman to sail around the world solo was Naomi James from New Zealand, and she did it in 1978. It took ten months. She had no satellite communications, used a sextant to navigate by, and her sailing equipment was primitive by todays standards.

  6. What an amazing job she did hats off to her. She’s a hero for millions Laura Decker was the youngest female around the world

  7. Kudos to her for completing the circumnavigation and coming in second.
But I was sorry to hear there was no mention of Kirsten Neuschäfer, who WON the Golden Globe, circumnavigating without stopping and using traditional (not GPS) sailing methods.

  8. She isn’t the first…..maybe American because there is an Australian girl who sailed solo Circumventing the Earth…..

It seems that when someone NEW does something people forget who the Original FIRST person is……

  9. It raises the profile of sailing in the USA, as ocean sailing is treated as an elite sport for billionaires, re the americas cup, European women have done this ad nauseum and set records, in groups and as solo sailors. Great job Carole! Enjoy you new reality and beam with hard earned pride.

  10. Sailing around the world single handed is one thing, Doing it as a race as fast as possible adds so much stress and danger to the trip.

  11. These kind of stories eclipse anything that's happening in the political world. Amazing achievement made by ordinary people every day should be broadcast to the world. Very inspirational.
