Barca cu două brațe! 100 USD Foling Moth EP3; Experimentele Vang!

  1. could u make a discord server for your projects and for us to talk about ours too and get and give advice potentially?

  2. More rake more better! For what its worth even my mach 2 with a traditional bend boom likes to pull to whatever side has slack shrouds. Why is that lever illegal? Its no different than the CST/ctech lever? What about running the purchase in the cavity?

  3. Bloody cold week it's been! So grateful that im on school hols and don't have to get out of bed at 6.30 in the freezing cold! Im glad youve got the vang sorted out! The anticipation of seeing it on the water is building! Keep it up tom, loving the series as always!

  4. Nice work Tom, I've been battling with the cold and crappy whether down here in the Great Australian Bight (where T assie apparently is!) Good to see some real problem solving and interesting setups.
Reminds me a lot of all the playing around I did to get my rotating rig working!

  5. Hi, are you not able to take all that arrangement back off and remove that new stub. The take a pulley on a lanyard – attached to those holes in that meaty boss with holes already in (on the C/L, in light grey – seen at 8:54). Then passing the vang line through that pulley. That stub is just extra weight and adding no Mechanical advantage. From what I can gather, you just want it to bring the vang down in line with the existing slots in the side of the hull. With this suggestion, you're connecting to what looks like a much stronger point on the hull, you're pulling more directly down, would be able to control the angle live if you added adjustment to the lanyard section; and You'd be saving weight.

  6. Very cool project this one, love it. As an aside, the reason the boom kept pulling to the side in the first configuration is due to the offset distance from mast pin (which the boom rotates around) and the pivot bolt on the end of the compression strut. When you load up the vang and put that strut in compression it will do anything it can to reduce that load, by swinging the rig to the side it reduces the distance from the other end of the compression strut to the mast pin, lowerin the compression load and also effectively eases vang at the same time. You can't pull it back into the middle because you are effectively trying to pull on the vang. Adding rake would reduce it but I imagine it was still there.

Because of the massive vang loads on a Moth (I run 48:1) they can do weird things. As mentioned above, if you run rig cant it can pull itself over to the unloaded side. I run no cant and it generally pulls itself into the middle.
