  1. I have seen the theory that the Bayesian started sinking when it tilted to 45 degrees and water started pouring into the main aft deck via cutaway steps and then proceeded to flow into the lower deck cabins. But I can't find any accounts by surviving passengers or crew members that mention water in the yacht, just tilting which started out "slight" per Angela Baccares, went to an estimated 45 degrees per crew member Matthew Griffiths, and then suddenly became so severe that objects in the yacht started tumbling/breaking and the crew and at least two passengers were catapulted into the sea. They weren't swept off the deck by water, they were tossed off by the movement of the yacht.

  2. A sickening distortion of the truth by the editor of the show and the CEO Giovanni Costantino -shameful – smacks of corruption they simply don't understand that most of us are watching with a very, very keen eye

  3. What a despicable individual Constantino is. It's possible Perini Navi will be forced into bankrupcy in the same way Oyster was after the keel tore away from a newly launched 885. By doing so it ended up saving the brand and it gives it the chance to cut out the deadwood in the process. Hopefully a better company with a new philosophy will emerge.

  4. Constatntino did not say the side door would left open. He said: “At the back of the boat, a hatch must have been left open but also perhaps a side entrance for water to have poured inside."

  5. The builders of the luxury yacht Bayesian are seeking significant compensation from the owner, crew members, and operators of the vessel for allegedly damaging the builders' reputation. The Italian Sea Group, owned by entrepreneur Giovanni Costantino, is demanding €222 million for reputational damage, reports the Giornale di Sicilia.

According to the builders, the parties involved, including the operating company Camper & Nicholsons International, hired a crew that was not suitable for the vessel. Specifically, the New Zealand captain, James Cutfield, was allegedly not capable of handling the technologically advanced ship, according to the complainants. Additionally, the engineer and a sailor on watch were said to have acted unprofessionally.

  6. Looking at that mast in the last photo of the stern sure puts it into perspective with the designed righting moment being so low. That’s a lot of mast to get knocked over and come back.

  7. Seems to me given the blatant defensiveness of some parties to the boats demise that the design of the boat, allegedly, played more of a role than the designer/builder is currently prepared to accept.

  8. Understand the issue of AIS positioning not having the heading data which leads to misleading image of boat turning to manoeuvre (a explanation reached far too early by the CEO in trying to implicate crew that he will come to regret. He has locked himself and company into positions that are being debunked very quickly in crew actions, ‘unsinkable’, and tracking display. I think the coast guard commander will already be regretting his decision to go on that tv show!); but am I correct in assuming that the yacht was already put on its side past the AVS when downdraught hit the yacht while still anchor. And so was in this ‘capsized’ position and taking on water while being blown along in the water as the yacht position moved until it finally sank. Obviously the AIS only has one form of display image to represent a vessel and this may also give misleading impression of vessel still being in an upright position until its very last moments.

  9. So glad they have photographic proof that the tender door was closed. That possibility had quickly receded in probability as other crews weighed in (most said never left open at night).

  10. It looks like there was no storm and the ship was not in trouble in those last pictures. Were they taken before the storm hit?

  11. Re the Baltimore disaster, my perspective as a civil engineer may be slightly different. Although it does seem there were severe faults with the ship (and the owners and captain may or may not have been aware of them) I wonder whether the Port of Baltimore should have imposed more restrictions on ship movements?

The bridge is very old and the space for ships to pass is very small by modern bridge design standards. Since the bridge was built, ships have become much bigger, heavier and less wieldy. As far as I know, the bridge piers did not have protective caissons or shallow run up’s to shield them from impact. So my question is whether a VLC should have been manouvering on its own in that small space at all? Shouldn’t there have been restrictions such as requiring a pilot or tugs?

  12. Interesting update given the nearby skipper saved those soles at sea who were abandoned by the ship and not the revease. This matter came up in titanic as to why a senior officer survived and passengers perished.the reply is simple if the vessel abandons you it is every man for himself in the water after you have done your best to pack lifeboats of passengers if time permits this. Perina navi have a lot to answear too for such a quick sinking at anchor after a simple knock down. Ps keep the news flowing it is highlighting some shocking attitudes.
