This was one of Joans best recordings. Here she proves that she can be as commercial as the rest of them – she just didn't choose to be very often. Can you imagine how far she would have gone if she had been paired with some of the "greats" of the modern era of recording? Mutt, Ahmet Ertegen, etc? Just fantastic – absolutely fantastic.

According to me this "I'm Blowing Away" album is one of her strangest one. I wouldn't say "too commercial" but well I just don't understand it…. You can find a stunning "Yellow coat" beside a Rap with "Time rag" as the wonderful ballad "Luba the baroness" with a jazz standard which is "Cry me a River". it is a very Strange album with a very Strange cover pic! I just don't understand this album, but I like it!
