8. Watching one of the blu ray interviews with Tom, he says Rowan was upset by this performance. He had quietly told Tom to dumb it down to being dull for their run through, after being boisterous in rehearsals. The director and producer were concerned about Tom's change in delivery and Tom had to tell them Rowan had asked him to change it to a dull delivery. They said forget that and do what he was doing before and he did. Rowan apparently hasn't spoken to him since.

Atkinson actually disliked Tom Baker over this one scene because he told Tom to make Rum as boring and dead as possible after being like this, and I think the directors preferred this one as it was superior and hilarious. And it made Rowan somewhat jealous that he stole the spotlight of the scene

28. Very few actors can milk a line like Rowan Atkinson can. He can take the simplest thing and elevate it to comedy gold. But in this scene, Tom Baker absolutely blows him out of the water. Atkinson is very very good, but Baker is always the best.
