When I read mummified I was thinking preserved from a long time ago, not a decomposing body.
They did think he went missing in 2009, but whatever happened this is one of those really errie stories! Thinking that yacht has been adrift in the ocean with a corpse rotting inside day and night for years
I wonder if his engines quit on him and he had no choice but to hope for a rescue team to find him, but slowly but surely ran out of safe water and food, and when into the bottom f his boat to sleep and conserve energy to never wake again. Sad.

These racers reported the dismasted boat, adrift with the dead skipper onboard, to the US Coastguard in Guam. They did nothing. It continued to drift for another 2 months until dealt with by Philippine authorities. Disgraceful.
