  1. It's like never have eaten cake, then someone offers you a piece and you decide to eat the whole cake at once…it's a sure way to make you hate sailing forever. You shoulda stuck with small steps and eased into it.

  2. you will have a good time. it's not to big of a step that you would be out of your range of capabilities. be aware of what is going on and sleep or at least rest during your off watch.

  3. See what happens when you hang out with the people at the marina, they are a bad influence. They teach you to sail, then when you least expect it, how would you like to cross an ocean? In Florida do they have what is called a 5150 law? In California it allows you to be locked up until you come to your senses. After you fall victim to crossing an ocean trick what is next, how would you like to sail around the World? Sailors are a sneaky bunch. Soon you will be filling your passport up with stamps and have to get a new one before it's renewal date. Now that I have said that , it doesn't seem like it is such a bad idea. Have fun. You will never be without a story to tell. Travel is like Crack, once you get a taste of it you will always want more. I can see you missing sitting in a law office more and more. Yea to Hell you will. Beware the sneaky sailors.

  4. You sound like you're where we are going. The wife is an attorney, I manage the office and my other businesses. We cannot wait until we cut the lines and sail out into the Pacific.

  5. Well hope they have a good boat and know what there doing. another one I follow went to do the same and only made a week, was sea sick the whole time. Is your husband going to keep putting these on? Hope it goes well and you enjoy it and don't get turned off of sailing. I think of how many times you hear of people sailing down to Mexico then leaving there boat there for sale. I watch too many video's of off shore with storms I like to know that at the most only one day and I'd be out of it. Up here I could never see all the inlets in the rest of my life! How many are on the boat? Enjoy.

  6. is a link available to the captains channel so that those of us that aren't patreons can watch the trip?  Would be more than happy to sub to his channel and give him thumbs up too.

  7. It is a once in a lifetime event that, hopefully will happen again in the future, with your OWN boat! It's a shame that the captain put this stumbling block in the path of the YT community but it's his vessel! I'm happy for you kiddo!

  8. how awesome for you, thats something ive dreamed bout, since I was in my teens ,now if I can get my kidney transplant, maybe I can make it happen.not sure I can swing the patreon thing ,budget is pretty tight ,will see…for now I will keep keeping on my little sailboat project,,,paul

  9. What a splendid opportunity to rack up blue water experience under an experienced skipper. Volunteer as navigator and if you have not done so yet – learn how to shoot the sun👍

  10. What an exciting trip this will be, I have loved watching your videos and the personal touch you add to your videos, I will have to become a Patreon, Oh no, my first time to give to someone else's dream!

  11. It never ceases to amaze me. While I have received primarily supportive responses to this exciting news (thank you for that!), I have also received some harsh, misguided pushback. "So you want me to pay you to cross the Atlantic," one follower said. Wow. Really? Is that what I said? No. Not at all. I'm going regardless. I'm paying my own way regardless. And I'm going to share this awesome content regardless of whether one person signs up on Patreon or 100. Any time a cruiser asks me not to film something or not blast it on YouTube, I honor that request. I was grateful and honored the Captain granted my request to share this once in a lifetime experience on a small non public platform. Yet it surprised me the immediate offense many people took to my request that they donate a small amount to enjoy content I spend a lot of time and money making in addition to all of the free content I will still be putting out. Another follower asked: "If you can't blast it on YouTube, why would you go?" My public response is here: https://havewindwilltravel.com/2016/04/25/youre-not-going-to-blast-it-on-youtube-wtf/

  12. Wow! And non-stop to boot. If you guys do decide to stop in Bermuda on the way….send me a message!

  13. Well I was almost one of those angry posters due to the click bait title with no sailing. Got here thru Lazy Gecko! Hoping to hook up with them to give them some fishing tips.
You should check out RAN Sailing! Us swedes are a bit crazy.Malin and Johan are a wonderful couple just starting there journey and produce great footage! I just ask you watch this one video and then watch the rest of their videos.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afU-z38uncg
Johan is a amazing sailor and has survived some super extreme conditions! This amazing couple I would like to see you get in touch with and maybe add an interview with Malin to get getting to the spouse video as they will be crossing the Atlantic after hurricane season.
I don't think Johan will be phased as it will be his 5th crossing and he's sailed to Antartica and taken the Shackleton Passage to St. George Island! Watch above!
They just posted the first of a 3 part series of Johan sailing in the south ocean with insane footage!
