Was that Greta learning to sail before she crossed the Atlantic?
Thank you. The videos have stopped ?
this is NOT the safest way, to do it safer, pull the main ALL the way in with the sheet, then gybe the headsail, get on coarse, then release the mainsheet ( saves you bumping your head, and all the shock loading the process puts into the rigging and the hardware). This is how it's done in bigger boats (yachts) because the forces are so big, they will knock you over the side. just remember you are doing it for fun, always enough time to do the job safely!
Thought I wanted to sail. Not going to happen.
Straighten the tiller immediately after the boom moves. Great advice!
Be careful not to get the tiller extension up your bum, it might hurt your haemorrhoids…
"Why isnt failing to duck demonstrated??"
Is that Greta on the boat?
That's why it's called a "BOOM", right? Lol.
Fantastic. So well done. Thank you.
Excelent !
джайб == поворот фордевинд? пока слабо знаком с английской терминологией
excellent.
You say to straighten the rudder as soon as the boom goes across, but that's not what you show, at 7:00 or thereabouts.
Would you normally teach tacking first ? Gybing is more complicated and more to go wrong…..
I'm very new to sailing (only 15 hours on the water so far!).
I will be taught gybing for my next lesson!
I stumbled across this video on YouTube by scrolling through… Your videos are perfect for me!
They have an explanation, an animation, step-by-step and then repetition. Perfect. Thank you so much.
I learn better "visually" and i struggle absorbing information with theory books and verbal classroom training, so a very genuine HUGE, HUGE thank you!
I will certainly be coming back to your videos time again and regularly.
Thank you.
Great – thanks. Is Bearing Away similar? Both seem to involve the boom changing sides. Thanks in anticipation of clearing iup my confusion! Subscribed and liked.
Man you guys are awesome! This is the best explanation I found out of maybe 10 videos! Thanks a lot ♡
Great instructional video – thank you for helping me visualize the sequence! Do you have another one that is more detailed on the jib movement and timing? If not, at what point does the “old” line get thrown off? Before or after the main crosses? Thanks again!
You mention a glossary of terms, but I do not find it? Where is it? or how do I get it? Thanks, great and helpful video!
This is way more info then i needed to get going, but its good safety tips! One time the boom of a junk tried to kill me.
