This is my nightmare! Dream big, go small, start now 🙂
Do you guys know if this Irwin is still sitting/rotting away in that boatyard ?? I have a friend who is looking for that exact vessel to make junk rigged motor sailor out of it
Run ,there's better boats for less money and work. This boat isn't work 5000 and you are looking at years of work if you go at it fun time. It's a shame but this boat is to far gone for me to even think about taking this disaster on.
Even if you fixed it up, the dock fees would be super nasty. BTW, I wouldn't call this dirt cheap.
25 grands for that ,,, dude he should cut it loose for a buck
Beautiful
So what ever became of this one?
Moored right next to my Catalina 30 is a Catalina 36, that has been abandoned. It was flooded at one time and like this boat, it has potential, but will need a complete engine and interior rebuild. I want it but my wallet says “I’m not deep enough for this one”
Money, to buy and refit, what do you have and how much can you generate from youtube, that is the question
I don't have enough time or money left for a boat like that.
Yes, buy it, IF you have the electrical, structural, mechanical, and interior design skills adequate for its restoration, close friends who are willing to pitch in when necessary (which will be often) to help, a pile of money you can commit to that restoration, and the willingness to dedicate most of your free hours over the next two or three years to make something of it.
I would just remove everything inside and refit all like many sailboats I've seen on youtube
2 gallons of gas 5 gallons of Diesel and a good lighter.
Been to this boat parts scrap yard ‘this boat has been there for years. Notwithstanding the effort
….looks like the 1957 lone Star fiberglass boat tied to my back yard fence for 27 years, ….rotten seats and all.🍟
Forget about it. This nightmare will ruin your lives. There has to be something better out there than this heap.
Nice boat. Big project. Worth doing
Would make a good aquarium , at about 500 ft below sea level.
Go for will be a experience of a lifetime. Sail to any where in the world.
Your wife has great vision, a lot of people would say “ get me out of this reck” she’s a keeper.
What we didn't see was your bank balance
in the black getting ready for a shock
Run do not go past GO do not collect $200
Definitely not worth $25K! I would be starting from a bare hull only, and I mean bare, as bare as she was when she was prised off the mold. And of course only after a thoroughgoing hull report. My reasoning is that only by starting from complete scratch would I be able to benefit from the originality of my own internal design. This would be the sort of project where worrying about the cost would be pointless. It would be pretty much a case of keeping going with it until finished !
Possible? Yes, with the correct approach. Worth it? Only you can answer that.
has she sailed
If the boat was free, I would think twice. Big project
No f-ing way!
There are several Irwin 52s for sale on line for prices that you can reach, I believe. Avoid an endless nightmarem, go in something you can sail away.
WOW what a project ! You can see she used to be a beautiful boat . So $22 grand is a crazy price for this poor baby , it's a skeleton boat ! ! A friend of mine gave me advice when I was considering a project boat " your either a boat builder , or a boat sailor " he's right , I would rather sail !
I would not
Keep looking
