  1. I loved the part about the planes (sea), especially the solution. excellent humour you have! with the buoy/boy stuff etc. As a newfoundlander, I can completely understand the whole mixup with the pronounciation….we refer to them as by's.

  2. Ant & Cid – Absolutely brilliant!!! I loved it!!! The frogs are always awkward! I find it helps if you remind them of Wellington and how we saved them in the second world war. Ironically Charles de Gaulle lived 100 yards from where I live during the second world war. Churchill installed him in a property in Petts Wood, part of the London Borough of Bromley. Kind regards Daryl.

  3. This was a great video guys! We both laughed a lot, especially at the wording used with the French boat – very well handled and he looks like he was indeed an idiot! Also loved the sea plane bit and the photos at the end are brilliant 👍👌 well done guys, another great video! Faye, Ryan and Pops xx

  4. I think I've got most of those T shirts already Ant!

Recognise Santa Ponsa, will be there next week sometime, too much wind, yep definitely got that shirt several times. AND I too may have a problem with French anchoring – I've managed to move two off with" La torch" and had two Frenchies anchored next to us and then swung onto us. Did you get to Portinatx? We was looking to anchor there before the sail to Mallorca.

  5. Hi, glad to see it's not just me who makes mistakes. Loves the in depth videos on maintenance and sailing. A couple of points, when alongside and there was an on shore breeze I was told to tie off on the bow and drive the boat forward with a ball fender (to keep you safe) then when the stern is out far enough reverse backward. Would this be a technic you would use too?

Anchoring, anchoring is a dark art to me especially when busy. What do you look for when anchoring so you are not too close? how do you know you have enough clearance vs chain vs depth?

    Fair winds

  6. After sailing for many years throughout the south pacific I found the french to always be the most rude when it came to anchoring practices. The Kiwi's & Aussies were always extremely considerate. I kept a small chainsaw on my boat for firewood & mangrove access when sheltering from hurricanes. Whenever a boat was bearing down on me & refused to re-anchor, I simply went up on my bow, fired it up (very noisy, really gets their attention lol) & calmly explained that when they came within "range", I was going to remove a significant part of their stern. It always appeared to work quite well in expediting a change of attitude about where they were anchored. Highly recommend this technique!

  7. I put my mainsail up with a reef in it before I raise my anchor. It is a lot easier and gives me more control. It is a lot easier to shake a reef out than to put one in.
