  1. The Shards are a class act. If your not familiar with them they have been sailing for years. Before YouTube they made videos via DVD and were on television. They were an inspiration to all sailors trying to live the dream. I highly recommend their DVD collection, it's a must own. We keep on our vessel and watch when we our at the Channel Islands in California. My wife and I wish them all the best with their YouTube channel. The younger generation will catch on.

  2. That gun on Landsort is part of the old Battery Landsort and is over 100 years old.
It's a Bofors 15.2cm m/98 gun and was originally mounted in a fort opposite Vaxholm outside Stockholm around 1900. But in the 1930's the guns where moved to Landsort where they remained in service until the 1970's when they where replaced with a state of the art 12cm battery (the coastal artillery where disbanded in the early 2000's and no fixed guns remain in service).

During the cold wars guns like this together with minefields guarded Sweden against the Soviet State on the eastern shore of the Baltic.
Back then Foreigners where barred from much of the archipelago, and no anchor signs on the chart might mean it was a minefield.

  3. I was watching this to take my ming off of the medieval festival (For which i am way to exited) when suddenly; it pounces!

  4. 9:50 He does not understand why you think tying a tall-ship to a rock is any out of the ordinary :p In scandinavia, we have to use the rocks, there's not much else to tie to 😉

  5. I’ve sailed around the world but nothing beats Sweden! If the weather is ok… Next time, check out the west coast! Deeper, narrower, rockier!

  6. I recently came across your videos and I really like em very very much. It helps me dreaming about things I myself am unable to do. Please carry on with this kind of bluewater storytelling

  7. Another great thing is the law of allemansrätten. You can anchor and go ashore anywhere you want(not military facilities obviously). As long you clean up after yourself and dont damage the enviroment. So its nice to bring a tent if you want to stay a night or two on any of the small islands.

  8. Absolutely, Loved the Vid,,,just watched your Delos, interview with Brian, Now a new member of Your Channel,,,,Fair Winds,,,,,,,,,,,,,!!!!

  9. Wow! I've been following Delos for years and I'm so glad to have learned about your channel. And this episode really speaks to me. As a swede, it's truly great to see people from other countries enjoy the Swedish archipelago.

  10. If you ever return to Sweden you should bring or buy some chisels (preferably angled) for ankaring bow first it makes it really easy to keep your moring lines in check if there's a lack of trees like there is in the outer artipelago.

  11. Awesome report, thanks a million!
Btw: which microphone and setup are you using for recording audio/voice when driving the dinghy or staying at the helm? Because even in windy or noisy environments the voice sounds great and clear!

  12. Sailing the Swedish Coast is just incomparable to other destinations! I have just been sailing the Swedish west coast for six weeks with a 40ft sailboat, so if you want to see more you can check out my newest video! 🙂

  13. We were chatting with a Belgian and a German sailor about this-both said the archipelago is beautiful but there are an awful lot of mosquitoes. Is this true?
