As the "club" grows, scheduling becomes a challenge. As their fleet ages, maintenance costs increase and are passed on to the "owners" IE you.. The costs never go down. Only up. Try getting out one, two or three years in. Good luck. These are for suckers.

  2. One pro to owning a boat is the residual value you have when you want to sell it.
With freedom boat club, at the end of 3 years you spent $14k (with his club of $3k down 300 a month) and have nothing to show for it. I know your not paying storage/maintenance/repairs but still one factor and a con to think about.

just like leasing a car instead of buying one.

Might make more sense when I have a family and need a bigger boat but for now I’m ok with my micro-skiff.

  3. I literally visited a FBC yesterday here in Beaufort SC! The Port Royal club has great boats. We are a military family stationed here and I’ve had the itch for a couple years now. We left Pensacola where wading flats was a little easier than here. But since we move every three years we can never guarantee where we go. Hence not wanting to buy. After listening that we can pay our buy in but if we move somewhere that there isn’t a FBC, I can pause it for a couple of years and come back! We plan to retire in Pensacola in the next seven years! Thanks for the great info. I will be joining very soon!

  4. Will they let you keep a boat overnight yet? That was the sticking point for me. I have a place on the water and would love to keep it for 2-3 days at the time.

  5. Two questions for long-time club members. 1. Do they raise monthly fee over time, like few years down the road? 2. Weekdays plans vs unlimited? ($100 monthly difference). If you subscribed for one – would you go back and change your plan for another, if yes-why? Thanks!

  6. We are retired and since joining the club in June, we have used boats over 40 times in various locations. Scheduling weekends and /or two or three days in advance can be a challenge, but being retired, we schedule week days and sometimes weekends, but plan ahead. We love the concept and take advantage as much as we can.

  7. Sorry guys but you are way off on this club. Freedom Boat Club is a scam. I was part of there Luxury program. It took less then 3 weeks of using there boats to know how bad the boat are taken care and the way they are ripping off the members with fuel cost.

  8. Too often you get stuck with a pontoon boat instead of a regular boat. Also despite their policy, they do not buy a boat for every 10 new members. It can be difficult to schedule a boat in this club.

  9. I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a price for membership. The first thing should be price. I couldn't care less about the emotional plea bs. How much is membership and how much is the monthly fee? That's all I need to hear.

  10. Hi. 🙂 Please, let us pray together. Dear God who art in heaven, hallow be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever in Jesus Christ's name we pray, amen.

  11. Im new to boating, dont know about maintance and dont wanna learn, and the fact that they do on-the-water training with you (which I need) in the area is a huge plus. Also in 10 years, I dont even want a 10 year old boat so the equity in owning is meaningless. I think Im sold.
