1. We don't really need the teaser. We'll be there.

I mean. It's not like we have to leave the house or shit. 😉 Not that we are allowed to . You're better off than many. And either knowledgeable about stuff or a great explainer. Hope the news isn't too traumatic. Catch you tomorrow.

  2. Don't come to Europe. It's indeed a shitshow. This whole corona hoax is about to explode and i think the boat will hold for another year.

  3. I’m happy you guys get to start to return to your normal lives.
Vernon, I’ve always admired your ability to work part time and sail part time.
Keep us updated on your land lives (even though it won’t be as peaceful as your sea life).

  4. All the best for re-joining this circus of a society mate. I hope for your sake it’s a short visit and that you’re back on the water ASAP. ❤️

  5. Smart to take that contract…. its more than just the immediate money… its keeps that amazing career going. I know a very successful musician with gold records on the wall, that really never got his career up to speed again after taking years off on the birth of his children… went from red hot to making a living and not much else. The boat will be there when you get back… so will we.

  6. If time is not an issue, I wouldn't be motoring even at two knots and I love speed too, but this is a pre-internal combustion reality, and if safety for any reason, like anchoring in the dark etc is not an issue, let it be, get a book. Remember, you wanted a lifestyle with a less stress component, enjoy……………………………………………………………………..

  7. Bitter sweet news mate. I envy you being so far away from this craziness going on in the world right now, I can’t even imagine Europe… here in Canada is all closed, my only sailing possibility is local once the winter passes. On the other hand, I’m sad to see you leaving the boat for awhile but I guess that’s life at times. My best wishes for you and Marie. We will see you in the water soon!

  8. It will be interesting to see if you are actually able to fly between Indonesia and France at the moment. Only Turkish Airways still has a flight to Bali, but only twice a week now. From Jakarta, there is either Emirates or Qatar Airways. But the most serious question is about the new entry AND exit requirements for France because of the new variants of the Covid virus now being discovered, the South African variant in particular. From the French government page on https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/coronavirus-advice-for-foreign-nationals-in-france/. "If you are in a country outside the European space, you may only enter France if your journey meets one of the exception criteria as listed on the exempted international travel certificate and if you have pressing grounds for travel." In other words, you have a lot of research to do before you buy your airline tickets. And, with a return to your boat in mind, you should also research what is currently needed for foreign passports to enter Indonesia. You may be surprised. From the Indonesian government page on https://id.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/covid-19-information/#:~:text=At%20the%20current%20time%2C%20the,including%20U.S.%20citizens%2C%20remains%20suspended. "At the current time, the Indonesian government has prohibited foreign visitors from transiting and traveling to Indonesian Territory unless they are in possession of a valid residence permit. Visa-free and visa-on-arrival entry for all foreign travelers, including U.S. citizens, remains suspended. The government has not indicated a timeline for when the restrictions on international visitors will expire." Best wishes from a travel agent who has been locked down in our house in California for a year now. I've been living my travel dreams via your great off the beaten path videos from #1 Indonesia. 🙂

  9. Great season. Thanks for sharing and giving me a break from the NY cold & snow for a few minutes each week. Looking forward to launching in 6-8 weeks. Enjoy your winter break.

  10. Vernon, If you visited before the Covid pandemic, Giliair and Giliterawangan must be very crowded with tourists every night and discotheque party. Hopefully the pandemic will be over soon and the world will return to normal, Lombok will be busy again… Terimakasih for stopping in Lombok. Salam…

  11. “Damn she’s Cute!” Great choice! Hope it all works out, and there’s not to much work to do on the hard….!? Thanks for sharing. 😎🏖🌴☀️🇦🇺

  12. Beautiful sailing. I've always enjoyed "ghosting along" at 3 or 4 knots. It's a great time to crack open a cold one and listen to some tunes.
I look forward to your haulout video.
Good luck with your contract. (did you mention how long it would be?)
    Best regards.
    AL

  13. The COVID shit is the reason I’m accelerating my timeline to get a boat or plane and just do what you do man. I can’t deal with all the stupid anymore. We’ve broken the planet and civilization is collapsing. It sucks. Time to punch out.

  14. You two are real Time Travellers lol. Makes for some confusion with your viewers eh?! Will you post any videos from Europe, to show your ‘other life’? Love from your top fan, Mum xx

  15. Great shots of the fish, drone etc and love the vibe in general. And interesting discussion you raise ie subject that must not be named, almost! Would love to sail to Lombok at some point. My brother sailed there in 1977-8 when it must have been very untouched. Kapai!

  16. Don't go.. hehe!

Bring it down to South Australia and I will work on it for free.. well I'll be learning by doing!
    Stay in touch bro.
    Regards, ShaunO

  17. We here are so happy that you got a contract and Marie is going to see family. We have our winter clothes, passports, Covid masks and positive attitudes ready!! Go Nico Bondi! A change of scenery for our favorite channel. With all that you guys have learned about producing your channel, it’s going be great! Thank you for taking us along! Enjoy every minute of it. Every hot shower. Every hot meal. Every wonderful conversation. Every new friend. What an opportunity. We really hope that it happens for you! Big hug from our group here in the desert of California! Thank you so much. 😎🏂⛷🥧☕️🫖👍🏽

  18. This is not meant to be cruel my brother. I ask the same question to all sailing couples. Who brings the assets to the relationship? Almost every response I get is the same. Maybe this is why true sailors say women are bad luck at sea. I wish it were different that is why I ask questions hoping to find true love at sea.

  19. Vernon…I'm especially jealous right now, it's been in the single °f here and were gonna get another foot of snow tonight. Can I sail around with you for a week? I'm kidding…I wish I could go! Maybe in a couple years my dream will come true and we can meet up and I'll be in my boat. It will happen..I own my house so all I have to do is sell it and I'll have ~$230k. Planning on spending about $30k on a small boat..32 to 38ish. I'm lucky in a way..I live in western ny state, Rochester to be exact…well, Fairport NY to be totally exact. Being near the great lakes there's so many boats that have never seen salt water, that get put away for 8 months a year, and even when they're in the water they rarely get used. So I can get a great boat for as little as $10k. I'll have to put some electronics and auto pilot etc in before I can take off. But I've been sailing my whole life so I'm good on the sailing part. Sorry for rambling…I'm just a little down these days. Take care my friend, and keep up with the wonderful videos:)

  20. Covid is no different than a normal seasonal flu. Govts around the world planned on using a pandemic to implement changes that they thought were necessary and knew they'd never be able to implement those changes without a pandemic. Here in NYS we have the NYS Thruway. There are about 400 toll booths along is length and until recently they had people staffing the entrance ramps handing toll receipts did when you exit they know where you entered. Then they have people taking the receipts and collecting money. There must've been I'm guessing 60 people for each exit to cover it 24/7/365 so 60 times 400 exits is 2400 people out of jobs now. The funny thing is they had an this planned out, the new signs telling people how to pay now, signs saying the Thruway upgrades are coming, etc. The best part is that the Thruway was paid for with taxpayer money and NYS was only supposed to collect tolls for 10 years, that was 40 years ago. So we have too pay tolls to drive on a road that our tax money paid for…only in NYS!
So the Thruway was one, they never in a million years would've been able to lay off all those toll booth workers, they've tried it before and it was a mess. So the pandemic allowed that to happen. Next, in court rooms across the nation, everything is now video call. No more need for a courtroom stenographer, little need for security because the accused are either in jail or at home but not in the presence of the judge. So again, massive changes have been made quietly and seamlessly, pre-planned changes that have reduced the cost of govt, laying of millions of people nationwide, changes that would've been fought to the death by the people who lost their jobs. Now I agree that the Thruway system should've been updated years ago, and the days of the court stenographer clicking away at those strange keys should be over now that everything is video recorded. But the way they did it, the way they had it planned is just sneaky I think. I might be wrong about my conspiracy theories and I hope I am, but I just don't trust anything any more. And that sucks.

  21. Sorry for all the comments…but when you mentioned the feeling of speed when sailing, i had to ask…have you ever windsurfed? The feeling of speed when6is just amazing, you're literally standing on the last foot of the board, the skeg is directly beneath you foot, you can feel it give out here and there, and if you push it a little too hard you'll blow out the fin… you'll aerate the fin and it will lose all of its ability to hold you upwind. Aka you'll crash in a huge splash and maybe your body will skip across the water for a few feet. With windsurfing, you're so close to the water that it just feels fast. And sailing is the best power sport. I call it a power sport because you literally have an engine that you tune constantly. But unlike an engine where you hit the throttle and you know what it can do, the captain of a sailing vessel has almost infinite adjustments he or she can make to go faster or balance the sails.

  22. I can feel your anxiety of going back,,,, but it is a bonus to have both options open and to make your own choices. All the Best to you & M

  23. I have been sailing all my life and I have watched many sailing videos and videos are the best I have ever seen. You have the perfect balance of sailing and cultural. Thanks for the great work. I hope you can keep it up for a long time.

  24. 1:26 hey Vernon, do you remember if that’s a continuous shot of the air bubbles morphing into fish in that clip, or you actually edited it together somehow? As always, pretty unique stuff…thanks for sharing all this!
