Thanks!
You lost me at 1 minute 48. I thought this was a single handed docking!
Awesome good lad
what do you mean singlehanded docking when there is someone on the dock that's two, singlehanded is alone you have to dock alone look at the vlog's from Mr. Patrick Laine
Still air and a guy on the dock to take in your lines. That's not "singlehanded docking." Singlehanded docking is me backing in my Hunter 31 into the slip, running forward to get the spring line on my midship cleat, then running back to the wheel to back down on the line so that it pulls the stern up against my finger pier.
Very helpful- thank u!
I cannot understand this comments "this is not single-handed-docking". Of course it is! It doesn't matter if the solo- Skipper gets help from Marinero. At the vessel the skipper is single-handed.
Nick, I appreciate a lot your efforts in this video's. As profesional Skipper, instructor and examiner I see all the benefits in your tutorials for beginners and advanced sailors. Keep on going! 👍

ah
Great video hope to see more of your videos in the future
Master, do you have an advice for stern docking in Greece with an anker at front not morings? windy and litle place.
Excellent stuff Nick. Thanks
Hello… très belles explications et démonstration…. beaucoup (voir tous ) de personnes qui louent un bateau devraient voir et étudier cet épisode ….BRAVO….

Nice instruction. But I have to say that in my marina that level of glassy smooth water is rare.
Does having someone at the dock count as docking yourself?
Stumbled across your channel and your videos are incredible resources for those with larger boats. Thank you for taking the time to put these out there.
This is great video❤️, but as you said there was no wind, when there is wind, and if I'm on 50ft+ boats there is more "work".. plus I have tried to catch my air 2 same as you 4 times and only once turned off automatically.
Single hand but you are 2. Most of people are able ti do this alone in Med.
Good video bro 😎
How would you do solo stern to using an anchor?
Nice video! Really enjoyed it! Nevertheless if it 100% single handed or was there a guy on the dock….
One detail I am Interested in!. Referring

“ If it was a really windy day or if I was getting blown away right now I would drive my boat against that stern line or control line…”
How would you do that single handed and picking up the mooring line and tying down the bow?
Please accept a dumb question…it seems you may have leaned on the boat on your starboard side with your fenders…is that an acceptable practice the boat on either side will bear?
Nice video of the hardest part of boating.
Would have suggested getting the 2 stern lines in place and then power forward to maintain the boat off the dock and straight. Then the forward line to center and walk back towards the dock by powering off and letting the stern lines draw the boat back. If you had a breeze on the nose the boat could have hit the dock or veered off before getting the nose line on.
Do marinas always send a staff member for single handers?
We’re usually doin hitches but I like the idea. Whether the lines are easy to undo really depends on the lines also.
Great video. Thank you. If you fancy doing another video…..I need to learn how to dock solo WITHOUT anyone to catch my lines.
What if you dont have someone on the dock
Fantastic ! ! !
As a reformed commercial fisherman who has gone over to "blow boating" I had always been taught that you are never done cleating off until you flip a loop and hitch it down.
Then a couple years back this English chap (who was admittedly a bit cranky) noticed how I was cleating off, and questioned me on it like I had commited some form of cardinal sin while desecrating a temple of some form. Right irritable fellow, but every now and again he would make a good point, and yes sometimes the OXO is indeed easier to get undone, but at least in my experience you have to load it right up before it cinches down on you. To each their own.
Also I've had the pleasure of playing bumper boats on a Bavaria 51, that twin rudder had me all types of baffled, got her mostly lined up to go starboard side to and went to give her a bump ahead to shove her rear end in a bit and nothing damn well happened, so me in my infinite wisdom and nearly 30 years of single rudders unly decided screw it I'll spring in, which only served to swing her stern out more and cause the fenders at the bow to protest. I then started getting flustered, and force of habit and practice took over and just made everything worse. Thank god for fenders! Ended up full sideways pinned in a corner by the breeze feeling big enough to use a thimble as a bath. Took a lot of "Norwegian Steam" to fix that mess. Then some good brandy to ease the skippers pain!
You were up against the boat to starboard, pushing it throughout the manuever. You need to get the boat centered in the slip and not touching your neighbors. Covids around these days and you need to social distance. The boat isnt going to swing anywhere if uou get both stern lines on and set equally. All that fooling around with the bowline ate up time you didnt have. C+/B-., 3 out of 5 stars..
Great video, well-presented…thanks. How about doing one for us single-handed 20-footers with an outboard?? 🤔
I sail in the Solent normally but am bareboat chartering a cat in Greece in 2 weeks firs the first time – this helps, thanks!
Great video, thank you!
Great vid bad hair lol
