  1. Glad to see that you are better and that you are enjoying the anchorage. (I was fortunate enough to spend 5 wonderful days there three years ago.) I was wondering whether you were related to Pat Lawless. What rotten luck for him in the GGR. No more steering break-downs for the Lawless family, please!

  2. If you popped a hole in the cold plate, it will have gassed out all its freon. You could remove it and blow air through it to find the leak, not sure about getting it re-gassed. Hope you feeling better. Shame about Pat, but being in one bit himself is better.

  3. Cheers Peter, You might find a refrigeration co @ GCanaria that can solder the hole and re gas the fridge? we had an inline bottle of some gas years ago that screwed into the system. Oh, while you were reclined in yer bunk I got my sticker!

  4. Put a small self tapper with some epoxy glue into the puncture. Or some liquid metal over the hole. Just clean the area well.

They can be re gassed at any marina by an engineer.

    Gas may cost around 50€.

Normally there is connection on both pipes from compressor to plate. It can be disconnected here if you need to remove it.

Other option is to buy a new plate approx 300€

  5. Thanks for keeping us updated Peter and hope you're feeling better now. Next job is your fridge! Sorry about your brothers bad luck – i've just watched the YT video someone linked on here.

  6. Peter sorry to hear you were I’ll also sorry to hear about Pats misfortune. Do take your time to get well. I used ride a Yamaha 650 dragster trike my husband had converted for me loved my time riding it around Ireland did round Ireland a few times . Miss it

  7. Sorry to learn about your illness….it seems to have taken the glow off you so take care. Pat had awful misfortune to lose his steering as barring the unknown he could have been right up there at the end. Stay safe now.

  8. I'm sorry you had to deal with another bout of illness. Hopefully this will be the end of it. Much respect or the way you view the beautiful nature around you. Wishing you many blessings.

  9. Sorry to hear you were laid up again. Don't sail until you have your full strength back, if you are still weak. Pancakes sounded good. So sorry Pat had to withdraw from GGR race when he was doing so well. He must be so disappointed and you too. Hopefully he can try again next time. Is it possible to carry a spare aries when this happens?

  10. So lovely Peter that despite being ill you took the time to send us a video. Every glimpse of Gomera, Waxwing, the sea is a tonic as we embrace a very mild November in Northern Ireland!

I am devastated for Pat as it is impossible to miss his passion and determination to complete the GGR. But as you beautifully placed it in perspective, he is safe…and hopefully will get another chance.

Hope you are well soon and are able to get the fridge repaired. I’ll be working on my Dehler on Monday and Tuesday to address a dirty or water in the fuel problem. ⛵️

  11. Sorry you’ve been under the weather. Just a thought….have you checked your water storage? Perhaps it’s become contaminated?
Wise decision to lay low and not continue u til you’re stronger in body and mind..well done.
Good wishes and prayers for wellness and strength!

  12. Hi Peter, hope ure feeling better. The fridge evaporator aren't really repairable as they are aluminium, they are a stock item that comes precharged but you've lost all the gas out the system. i would repace it and have a regas, then you'll know if its sound, i had a similar failure, repalced the evaporator and regassed for £400 in the UK.

  13. Pat’s news was heartbreaking especially when he had been doing so well. It just shows what a difficult race the GGR is. Anything can happen to anyone but as you say all are safe. Be safe yourself and look after yourself. I appreciate you checking in with your followers. Sometimes hello I’m fine is all people need to hear.

  14. HELLO PETER….. DISPITE YOU ARE SICK, YOU MANAGE TO POST YOUR VIDEO….. THANK YOU SO MUCH…. HOPE YOU CAN RECOVER FAST AND WELL….. – YES… IT IS A SAD NEWS ABOUT PAT… HE DID SO WELL ….. SINCE THE BEGINING OF THE GGR…..( I BEEN FOLLOW….. ) HOWEVER GOOD NEWS HE IS FINE … GGR IT IS A VERY DEMANDING RACE…. – LUCKY YOU ARE NOT IN A RACE…. YOU CAN RELAX AND GET.BETTER AND HEALTHY…. I WISH TO YOU ALL THE BEST …. FAIR WINDS AND MYKIND REGARDS….. 🍾🥂 À TUA SAUDE…. ( CHEERS )

  15. No apologies required there mate. Your journey is grander than a few more days of feeling under the weather. Hope you find a fix ( or repair if can be ) for the fridge : let us know what happens.
Wishing you a much better week ahead and we’ll join you, vicariously, in the next video

  16. I've been following the Golden Globe race and tracking your brother's progress. When I heard about his wind vane failure I thought it'd be ok as he could fix it whilst anchored at Cape town according to the rule's. Didn't he have the spares needed for the repair?

  17. Bummer….yea always something……sometimes alittle JB weld on the puncture and a freon recharge.. might get it, I’ve had some success on mini refrig’s.
Probably a good idea to get checked out……. I’m not a good example of the process… every time I see my doctor, he says long time no see…what are you about to die of..😂
Peter always enjoy the weekly visit!
