  1. the betel nuts and white powder give the chewer energy… its like energy drink or bar …usually laborers would chew on it during the day to give him the energy to slough through the day.
Betel nut has a mild stimulant effect and in addition to reasons of tradition, local people chew it for stress reduction, heightened awareness, and suppression of hunger..yes tinkering with the sensor to give less petrol or diesel is how they scam the customers…remember my caution about watching purses but never knew they did it as the petrol station…oh well.. it is good to post the different phrases so can get by at the market…indonesian with a touch of kiwi accent – kewl

  2. I tell you It’s just Daylight Robbery$$$ Karen just wouldn’t have it here in Australia. 😢 Where’s the irreverent Ivan? He may not realise it now, however he possibly has a sizeable fan base. Being mostly young women. Once back in civilisation he just has to name his price and they will be throwing themselves at his feet.🥰.

  3. After 20 years sailing in indo. The officials have stayed exactly the same. They always suck. If you want to get it over with in 1 or 2 days you got to play the game. If you dont play it takes longer.

  4. Ye that white powder with the beetlenut is builders lime. (slaked lime or calcium hydroxide) it eats into the skin of your mouth so that the beetlenut is absorbed into the bloodstream. (don't ask me how I know this. I may or may not have spent a consireable time in india though.)

I'm hopeing that traveling kerry's trail will somehow find some reconciliation of past grievences. To find peace where there was once troubled times, places and people. Intrepid treveling always means never ariving at the same place twice. Simply because places change us and we never see things quite the same as we did before. Salamat datang

  5. All my plastic jerry's have the 20L mark half way down the Warning word. I can squeeze in 24L. They are Supercheap ones. You know the Aussie car accessory place.
I have another type and it's mark is about 7cm below bottom of filler.

  6. Always interesting to see people's first impressions of life in Indonesia. Its a crazy, dog-eat-dog world but the people really make up for it. Just remember to not take it personally when things work against you and be thankful that you can enjoy this amazing country as a tourist and not have to live here as a poor local. N'joy!

  7. Kiwi's to the rescue. It's great to be able to help other people and typical of your family to try to do so. We are destroying our planet with waste it is soul destroying to see all the rubbish floating in the oceon. It's also great to see another culture and food but you would not get me eating that stuff early on in the vlog. The chicken looked ok and was very fresh however. What a load of trailing about Rob had to do at the start but he looks pretty good in a motor cycle helmet. lol. Thanks for sharing your travels with us all. Keep well and safe. James.

  8. This is what I have waited for – seeing y'all (esp Rob) interacting with other cultures. LOVEd this episode! I hope you go to some more remote villages along the way.

  9. Unfortunately there are scams like that throughout the word. People are being robbed left right and centre even in the western world. Take medical care in the USA for instance or the energy crisis in europe. Its not great, just don't take it personally. Loved the betel nut sampling. Another highly enjoyable episode.

  10. It is so fun to see you guys adventuring in a new country. It seems like Asia has a real problem with people's trash ending up in the ocean, so sad.

  11. Because fuel is discounted in Indonesia 🇮🇩 I'm pretty sure you are not allowed to go help your self to buy fuel! The Harbour Master could of put you in contact with the correct procedure on buying fuel legally 🫵👍🎲 you got evidence for Indonesia to prosecute you now on you tube! Soap on the rope! 🥳🫵

  12. Relieved to hear you were only robbed by a criminally set petrol pump meter! I was worried you had been in a mugging. I guess it was a mugging by a petrol pump! Enjoy Indonesia! Love to you all. ❤

  13. Please show a map of your route (intended) so those of us who cant quite catch your verbal description can see it on the screen. Please thank you .
