  1. i saw this before and as a traditional sailor i find it extremely hard to see that you do not us a "tauschneider"… get a hot knife – please! (preferably a german one – you buy it once!)

  2. Doug I got a question for you. Say something was to happen to you or other people on the boat and can't get to things like valves that u and a few ppl only know what ones to shut off or turn on. did you ever Ponder to get the tags with little metal wire Ties on them and label all the valves so maybe if something did happen to you people can read the tags and know what's going on or for future use if you happen to be gone and the boat is still operating. honest question thank you . 🤔

  3. DOUG….DO NOT EVER PUT SOAP ON SILICONE! ITS A TERRIBLE "OLD TRICK"…..DETERGENT AND SOAP…..IMMEDIATELY START TO BREAK DOWN SILICONE! YOU ESSENTIALLY CUT THE LIFE SPAN INTO LESS THAN A QUARTER OF WHAT IT SHOULD BE……IF NOT WORSE! YOU CAN TRUST ME…IVE BEEN WATERPROOFING FOR 25 YEARS NOW……GO AHEAD AND DO THE RESEARCH….YOULL SEE!

  4. Any tips on how to get gorilla glue and purple heart mixed with jarrah wood dust off your fingers? Stuff sets like stone. Anyhow, you got sail hydraulics. Strong work.

  5. Doug
I use thos Hydraulic DCV/solinod at work and just want warn you the springs can sometimes fail/break aswell the 'magnet' itself will rust
Put some sealant on the end caps and electronic cap
!! don't let the slide fall out !! It very hard get it back in as clearance is very tight

  6. Even the new red rope you made looks pretty sketchy imo. I would use heavy duty straps personally but it’s your boat do what you want. She’s a beauty!

  7. Hi Doug.
I've been using Carabiners .. Clog quick gate .. for decades for mooring while crusing and going through locks..
I suggest you angle the solar panels at the Sun south-ish .. I realise you will need a bow and stern anchor .. angling them gives about 5 times the power output.

  8. Doug, sorry dude, but if you are incapacitated 500 or 5000 miles from a port the crew is screwed due to
all the over lapping redundancy and shared dependency within the system/systems.
It's kind of like airline pilots trying to figure out multiple computer failures all the way to the crash site !

  9. Doug have that red spot on your temple looked at by a dermatologist. Could be just keratosis, but better have it checked.

  10. Hey Doug, love your work! How bout an unloading valve on your hydraulic system? Maintains the pressure in a closed system, keeps your accumulator charged but off loads the pumps and stops heating the fluid. I'd travel across the country to work with you for a few days, but unfortunately I'm in the wrong country! Howdy from Down Under..

  11. Hi, the flow control valve you have fitted on the winch is for open centre systems. You can get away with using it by fitting it after the solenoid rather than before it 👍👍

  12. Ok, I like have a question you are about perseverance of the water after your hydraulic spill, and what about your drilling and shaving of aluminum into the water that is not good is it .And yes, I give you permission to use my Name JamieLynn from Ohio.

  13. How do you remember where everything is and what it does? Do you have as-built drawings / schematics? Or do you just have a great memory? Building this boat is an amazing accomplishment 👍🏻

  14. Looking great! Currently watching from 90 degrees south (South Pole station). I sent you the kingpin for the hitch you made to get Seeker to the port of Catoosa.

  15. Hey Doug I got a question for you do you think you're going to end up having a problem with the front open like it is for the anchor obviously you think you're high enough that it won't cause a problem I don't know I'm thinking in rough water you could but then you can stay out of that too you definitely have enough electronics to let you know when that's going to happen and where that's going to happen I would really appreciate it if you could give me some insight to that

  16. Still working like you're in Tulsa. Can you just do 5 minutes about you enjoying the huge moment of having made it to the sea after all those years. Long shots of the boat to see what you see. The final results so as to speak.

  17. That looked like a 50 Durometer o-ring. You need to replace it with a 90 Durometer o-ring. O-ring/Boss fittings NEED 90 durometer. (Quick test: You can almost bite through a 50 oring. You can tell a 90, it is FIRM)
