  2. First and foremost (Perhaps it's because we have seen so much of Nick Lately) but you are looking great Therysa! The UK life suits you. Happy new year to you both. In relation to where to go when RR2 is launched my vote goes to Asia. You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the issue of potentially requiring support in the early days, plus (and I don't know this first hand because I've always sailed in her Majestys warships) I hear that sailing in the med is quite frustrating in terms of lack of consistent winds. I do understand the allure of the life though (restaurants, Histry etc) but I would keep closer to the support base for a short while at least. Good luck whatever decision you make well all still be watching you.

  3. I love you guys, and I have followed you for a very long time. I'm REALLY happy to hear that the boat is going to be done soon. The sailing around asia is absolutely stunning. But, the indian ocean is hard sailing. I'm pretty sure i'd like to have a couple of years and maybe some "lesser" crossings under my belt before tackling that.
    So, my vote is ship to the Med, spend a season sailing the med leading up to the atlantic crossing to the Caribbean. Plus, LOTS of sailing channels have done east to west atlantic crossings, but only a few have done west to east crossings.

  4. Asia obviously, shake down, huge number of landfalls, shipping costs would cover more than the first year of expenses sailing throughout Asia. It’s a performance cat so ocean crossings are less than 3 weeks in any ocean. Med year two.🤷🏻‍♂️👍

  10. Just for the record, whatever decision you make is great for me. The fact that once again you will be back sailing is all I need to know. The where is of minor significance.

  11. since you are in vietnam, why can't you give us a tour of the north? it is a part of the country that is still very unknown to most europeans and n.americans. like 2 or even 3 eps. seeing nick prancing around unbuilt/unfinished boats gets boring :-))

  14. Sail Asia, semi-circumnavigate Australia, cross the Tasman and circumnavigate New Zealand, cross the South Pacific and round the horn back to Europe. Then cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Galapagos, Polynesia, Asia. Should keep you busy for 4 or 5 seasons.

  17. My vote is for Asia, we loved it and definitely sailed through way too fast. If you do choose the Asia option, we highly recommend the Anambas Island group in Indonesia. It was stunning, very off grid, great snorkeling, lovely people.

    We did the Indian Ocean in 2020/2021 (yup the covid years!). Thailand to Trincomalee in Sri Lanka down to the Maldives, down again to Chagos, across to the Seychelles (1 year waiting for countries to open), then across to Tanzania (our Seychelles visa was up and we had to leave and Tanzania was open. We embraced the option and did a safari and climbed Kili) finally ending up in Cape Town South Africa. We had to skip Mauritius, Reunion and Madagascar as they were still closed.

    If sailed in the right season and prepared to wait for good weather windows it is OK to good sailing in the Indian Ocean. The conflicting swells are annoying but doable. We had a great crossing from Thailand to Sri Lanka – one of our best ever sails. Motored through most of Maldives, Chagos, due to no wind. A fast hard start out of Chagos but then a good sail. A great sail from Seychelles to Tanzania. And a fairly good sail down the East African coast. We are a 50ft very round bottom mono, we roll a lot.

    Which ever route you choose Asia or Med – enjoy. Hope all is going well with the cat build.

    If you don't already have it, get SAS Planet (it's similar but we think better than Open CPN)- brilliant for Asia/ Indian Ocean countries where the charts are not all that accurate. We are now berthed at St Katharines Dock in London, feel free to drop by if you want to get a copy of SAS Planet and all the anchorages.

  18. Is not a good idea taking delivery of the boat close enough to the manufacturer, so if you have problems it can be fixed by themselves?

  19. Personally, Asia is the only option. But the secret to that is the security questions. The end of the US Navy guaranteeing safety on the open ocean and primary sea lands returns us to an earlier era in sailing. Pirates were common. Let us know your ideas on sailing safely in Asia. This it a interesting idea. Safe fun. The tropics? The best place to be in my my view.

  24. My vote would also be Asia, only because the Med and the Caribbean have been a bit overdone on YT and you can get more interesting content starting from Asia.

  28. Maybe circumnavigate Australia – easier to get support from Seawind during the commissioning phase (every new boat has teething problems) and then either head east or west after a season or ship to Europe. I'll buy you a beer if you are ever in Perth.

  30. Personally I'd love to see more sailing videos in Asia, just because I haven't seen that as much from other sailing vlogs, whereas the Med and the Caribbean are more common sailing destinations. Either way, looking forward to see what comes next!
