1. Hi guys, loved the youtube! Where do I find out more about the virgin island cruises you are putting together. Our neighbors bought a small cat and trying out the sailing lifestyle and hope to set sail after their kids are off to college in a few years. I would love to come and do it too, what a great idea. formerly SV Equus love Patricia and Steve

  2. What a nice video again, and, seeing Uma here too. As to being on watch, e.g. for "ice" has anybody ever tried to mount a depth sounder horizontally under water on the bow of a ship as an instrument to be warned of big things that you might need to avoid bumping into?

  3. Thank you for the update. We always enjoy seeing our new boat's progress. Since we don't have a boat, we have adopted yours, if that's OK!

  4. Can't wait to see you guys back on the water with DS4 I think you guys 2023 is gonna be a year for you two🙏🏼and ❤️Happy and Safe sails and Winds⛵🌬️⚓as Always ⚜️ Jennifer from Connecticut

  5. I guess you know about, but if not check Alluric Arctic Sailing and x-Trip-sailing and Erik Aanderaa on YouTube. XTrip is in german, but you might get some idea Or contact Michael anyway

  6. Hi to you guys. I am living in the south western part of norway. Dont forget to go sailing into our deep long fjords. My place the hardangerfjord is higly recomanned at least by me. Welcome!

  7. Mets is indeed a good source for ideas. If you are still in Europe, then ‘BOOT’ in Dusseldorf, Germany (3rd wk January) is also a good source. It is the biggest indoor watersports show worldwide.
    Cheers! Harry

  8. What a great video and it is nice to see you meet and chat with fellow YT sailing channel peoples. A very nice segment with Dan and Kika from Sailing Uma – such a great younger couple sharing info with the DS cruising veterans. Super psyched about the completion of DS 4 and watching your journey North to joint the 80 degree north club. Thanks for sharing!

  9. Distant Shores has been leading the way for 40 years. It’s sad that their views are less than other sailing channels. Is it because their video’s don’t have a woman wearing a thong?

  10. Happy New boat, and it is a beautiful boat; Personally Id have chosen wood over aluminium for the arctic, reason being aluminium hulls are very cold, so cold your skin can stick to it in artic winter weather.

  11. I laughed with the comments about leaving Norway by November. I’d want to be well passed Biscay or batten down the hatches for November gales around the UK. I’m too soft 😂

  12. If you have time for a Sail Away experience in northern waters, I would be thrilled to participate. 🙂 But I imagine that by summer you will be enjoying the many new adventures that your custom yacht enables. Safe journeys!

  13. This was fantastic! I can only imagine how you two feel about the new Distant Shores being completed. I have to let myself be distracted in order to hold down my own excitement regarding your new boat. Maybe you'll be able to sail her down to Annapolis in October? : – )

  14. Will you have to deal with any type of corrosion? Like when attaching stainless steel direct to the aluminum? Or do you avoid dissimilar metals?

  15. The time line to sail back for Norway to the UK in November is a biggest challenge. Dan and Kika are right when to leave for the north but sailing the North Sea in winter can be havoc. Be prepared to hunker down at a good spot for longer periods.

  16. When completed, Distance Shores IV is going to be the ultimate vessel for Paul and Sheryl to safely and comfortably explore those elusive high latitudes.

    She’s utterly exquisite. ❤

  17. Nice to see a 🇨🇦 in the hall! Also your hull time lapse was perfect. I was in Port Townsend last May and saw your old boat. Like said in the video how much larger they look on land vs floating. Thank you for taking us along.

  18. Best wishes on the launch. I would have thought 700l was not a huge amount of fuel but I guess it depends on sailing plans in the ice and desired time off grid.

  19. Hi guys. The new boat looks amazing. As a hot air balloon pilot and yachtsman I can confirm that the most stable air is in late Autumn. So departing for the Artic would be best done in Oct / Nov. Happy days to you both.

  20. I'm curious how aluminum boats are in the tropics. Do the decks get too hot to sit on or touch? The hull is immersed in water, so I assume that helps dissipate heat somewhat.

  21. These yutubers are spending thousands of dollars from their patrons flying round the globe. Sailing seems to be very environmentally friendly…
