  1. With the oven could you put the left hand side further back and the right hand side further forward so the oven is slightly askew? Where’s the specs gone? Great video though! Have you seen YouTube channel Saling Zatara? Great channel!

  2. Hope they get the Marina sorted pretty quickly, for your sake’s as well as the staff. Sounds like the staff deserve a big 👍up for still working and not getting payed since Christmas.
Dave are you going to take your wife with you to America. If not she must be very understanding.
    Kind regards
    Mark

  3. I’m re commenting after a quick delete of my last comment, couldn’t work out why the title said about the Marina going bust but for some reason the video actually started for me when you were testing the anchor.
So… as in my first attempt at commenting I hope you don’t come to regret the purchase, it seems there’s a few jobs popping up you hadn’t expected. I hope it’s a cheap fix and you don’t come to regret the purchase 😊

  4. Can you fibreglass in a new piece of marine ply and add in some stiffening braces. Fibreglassing is easy to do. I taught myself how to do it for the racecar I was building. That was pre YouTube days, so it would be even easier to learn. Also, try attaching a coloured feather duster to the top of the mast to scare birds away.

  5. That anchor chain looks like some maintenance required as well at least checked. Paint some different coloured fathom marks on the chain to make it easier to know how much needs to be out for the water depth at high tide to avoid dragging.

  6. Thanks for the update David. Finding a few things amiss when buying a boat is to be expected and keeping it up to scratch afterwards is a never ending job. As someone once said, A boat is a hole in the ocean you throw money into.

  7. Looking forward to watching you progress. Would love to have a full tour of the boat, particularly under the floors and in engine compartment.

  8. It's alright Dave, I'll put on my Eagles LP now… Look forward to seeing the future progress, a boat isn't something that's on my horizon (ahem) but the idea of contained living does interest me and being totally "free" is such a good feeling. For now a campervan will have to suffice for my endeavours.

  9. To make it so the oven door opens, simply remove the strip of finishing wood, sand down the back the 2mm needed and replace it. They you are, all sorted. If you need some help, sail the boat over to Delaware, USA and I'll be glad to help you. See you soon!

  10. Gentle suggestion. Gingerly take off the wood trim in the way of the oven door. Either you or a shop, plain down the Bach side of the trim as needed. Put the now little thinner trim back in place. To take the trim off you may want to use a hair dryer to warm up any glue and use a painters/plasterers spatulas to get behind the trim and peel it off. As for the draws I am sure there is a wood working solution as well. Hard to say from the video but similar shaving concept. But I think the trim is your biggest bother. Good luck.

  11. Just a thought …can you not just tweak the LH gimble point backwards or the RH one forwards a couple of mm then the oven door should clear the trim.

  12. Looking at that anchor fixing and rotting may I suggest that a dexion type reinforced square box be fitted below any double thick table top all thickly primered and top coated to prevent future corrosion. Why? Because your whole vessel is at the mercy of external forces all focused at one single point and making sure that load spreads across multiple points of contact with the boat will bring huge peace of mind at anchorage. 13. The windlass – how about a stainless steel strut? Rip out the old setup and get something installed that isn't going to mind taking some strain when required.

  14. Hi David, nice episode. Could you take 10mm out of the joinery panel to the left of the oven? Could ream out the swing area on the left side? Would give you a shift to the left to miss the drawers? For windlass will need to be stripped out, cut the rot out, fix marine ply 20mm board and re glass in situe..

  15. My thought on the windlass is have someone fabricate a durable, strong stainless steel shelf and secure it to the hull. Bolt the windlass to that. Just an idea.
