Acesta a fost un proiect mai mult decât am crezut că va fi. Dar tot sunt tentat să fac o ofertă pentru acest clasic Colin Archer. 1. Personally I wouldn't buy a used steel boat. Look at your friend on sailing melody. Two years in the yard and it's still not in the water. Buys a glass boat and bam he is in the water. Look at the sea dog. Shaddy was a boat in great shape when Barry firs bought her. Now he is constantly hauling out for patches and rust repair and he still has half the world to go. In my opinion you should get a fiberglass boat. It's going to save you time and money in the long run. I have seen many boats here in the United States lately that have been listed recently, fairly cheap. People who bought COVID escape boats, and didn't have a clue, are now starting to sell them cheap.

  2. Gee Mark. I wish you could get yourself sorted. Sorry mate but I have to ask this.
If you were able to look into a crystal ball, and been able to see what your life was going to be like, would you have kept "Glad Tidings.?" I mean, . You're not the only sailing channel I'm subbed to. I think Plukky of "Sailing into Freedom" may get here sooner, once he's sorted his catamaran. Originally you were going to be first. Anyway I'll leave you to sort your life out, and I'll move on with mine. I'll unsubscribe. And then subscribe again in a month's time and see what I've missed. Not much I guess. Anyway take care and atb from down here in Nz.

  3. Many of the parts do look really good and it might be worth the price because of that but the work needed devalues the good items imo. I might offer 20k.. maybe to up to 22k or 24k absolute max. But only if you really need that much space. It does seem big and that will add so much costs. But if you're making money by getting passengers to chip in that might cover those costs and more. So it really depends how much you want a lot of company. I'd rather be solo or just with one other person and you don't need that much room for that. Too much risk of conflict with many people. But if you're serious about having people join you then this might be a great option for the right price.

  4. I am the last person who could comment about the boat, but I must admit that you have a serious tool for making coffee on the go. Now I want one 🙂

  5. Why are you looking at shite like that? It's just a bit of rust? Yes, but covering every weld on the rust bucket. Why are you driving all over Europe looking at shite boats when there is a steel boat in Wales for 15 grand. I was considering becoming a patron but not for you to waste time and money looking at shite

  6. You could scrape the rust off. Dry it. Cover with strong anti rust and the chuck a gallon of oil down the to prevent further rusting. Any further problems then plate it over from the outside. That'll last a long time.

  7. It has great potential but you will have to expose all the steel deck and cabin sole to eliminate the existing rust otherwise you’ll be chasing your tail to keep up. Very beautiful and comfortable as you suggest. Doable with a new skill set with lots of resto footage.

  8. Why would you want a heavy boat ? They are not safer than a well built light or medium displacement boat but they take a lot of effort / money to maintain and sail. Heavy boats generate heavy loads so to be safe, everything needs to be bigger, more expensive to maintain and harder to operate…. Instead of spending your money on touring Europe in a car, you could buy close to home a small safe boat (Contessa 26 ?) and learn an awful lot by sailing it often in British waters before reselling it for about the same money you bought it. You will then be wiser in your boat choices as you will know exactly what you like or not. This thing and wharram catamarans are completely opposite, choose your camp!

  9. Nice project. It’s worth the resale value of the hardware bolted to it, minus the labor to remove, pick and ship it. Meaning… you’re a hundred grand from a sea worthy boat. Good luck.

  10. I like her.Very safe ,with projects for your crew to keep them busy🇨🇦🏴‍☠️🇨🇦🇨🇦🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🎤

  11. Don't know about this particular boat but I would recommend you learn how to weld and understand metals it will increase your ability to create income also.

  12. Would be a solid boat with the work and input but seeing as your alone for the most on this I feel this is a lot of work for you and will be a lot to sail an maintain alone

  13. You take your time Mark you’ll know when it’s right and with your dad what ever problems you come up against you’ll figure it out :))

  14. Learning from the channel Sailing Flying Connely, you should be prepared to rip everything out of the boat to get access to the steel

  15. If you want passenger or crew, this boat looks perfect. I like the heating system and the masts. Is the Archer in Kiel of smaller size? This boat and the masts look so huge, is it really possible to sail it by one person only?

  16. Hello Mark, unless you're a good welder or plan on becoming a welder, might want to steer clear of that one.. There's some good boat deals right now in Wa state USA..

  17. I wouldn’t listen to armchair surveyors – just get a survey done. If this comes back ok, this boat could be amazing again. For me, following your journey will be made more interesting if you could travel with other people – this boat would enable that due to it’s size. Some people commenting about trying to hide rust with marine red oxide – of course this is rubbish. It is a way temporary way to stop any rust worsening in a marine environment.

  18. I came into the ad of this boat few times and wondering about her too. The thing is: wood and stell don't like each other…so considering the overall condition of the deck it makes me guess that the deck under the teak is completely rotten and rusty. So a very expensive and time consuming and there are better 35k steel boats around
