Thumbs up if you empathize with the Greenland shark!
Sharks? Why not hire the Orcas especially those who kills Whales? Much more effective and secure, Sharks would shit themselves at those Sea Murder Pandas.
Here we go again. Their going to do away with another Navy tradition like swim call. They have already watered down Shellback and Chiefs initiation. Nothing sacred anymore.
Um, Batman Shark Repellent
My brother told me a story of his first "Shark Watch" in the Coast Guard. He said they told him if he see's a shark to holler "SHARK – SHARK – SHARK !!!" then shoot the shark. So he did just that when a shark arrived. But then everyone started to hollering and cussing at him immediately as he did such, "Cease fire, cease fire, Colburn, you dumbass, you're supposed to wait to until the men are getting out of the water before you start shooting.", the idea being shooting the shark would release the sharks blood into the water and start a feeding frenzy amongst the rest of the sharks before the swimmers were safely out of harms way.
His funniest story was when the Coast Guard had a multi-agency cook-out on base. He was on the work-crew putting up tents and getting the festivities ready. He said he picked up a water hose that had been sitting in the sun so he knew the water inside was probably pretty warm. He waited at the corner of a tent waiting for his buddy to round the corner for a soaking. He saw the shadow approaching the corner and in anticipation he let loose to perfectly time his shot. Problem was it wasn't his friend coming around the corner, it was a visiting female FBI agent now soaked with scalding hot hose water. I don't know his total punishment, but I do remember it included a 65 day restriction to the ship. I remember because as his little brother I sent him my RC Car ("Turbo Hoppers" had just came out, this was the early 80's) to make is "incarceration" a little less torturous. Oh the good Ole' Day's.
I'm so sick of hearing about safety. So many people get off on telling other people what to do and "safety" is their excuse to do it.
Maybe the navy can spook the sharks away, but the attacks on humans has dramatically increased. This is do to us being in their environment and a lack of food in the oceans and seas of the world.
When a person pees in the water they excrete fatty acids, proteins, and electrolytes. What that does is leave a trail that moves with the oceans the sharks can detect this a mile away.
A sharks bi-lateral line will detect this and move to the prey, humans in this case. The shark will display humping of it's back and a change to attack mode.
I dont recommend doing what they are doing. There will eventually be attacks.
An evolved species with 45 million years plus of evolution, super advanced
Americans are weird
Disappointed there weren't any 5th point of contact and water intrusion jokes from any Army peeps….. 😔
it is fun to kill sharks ? , let them alone
Nice to the sailors have fun. They deserve it. I was in the Army and once maybe twice a year we would a battalion sports day. They would grill burgers and t bone steaks. Alcohol was highly prohibited
I have great admiration for the dedication and sacrifice our military service people devote themselves to. It's incredibly important to show them our appreciation. I fully support our tax dollars being spent in such a manner. 🇺🇸
"Jumping from 60 feet cannot kill you… But it definitely can"
I'm accepting no advice from you.
I served on the Nimitz from 84 to 87. I was about 20 to 23yo. It's not just a job; it's an adventure. Earn while you learn. Join the Navy; See the world.
Bullets rarely disintegrate when hitting the water. Even you said they travel farther than 1 foot.
The military are all risk adverse because many have their cell phones out, filming and posting things on social media.
No events and no PR are better than bad PR.
Submarines are also very strict on cell phone filming of social events.
Wrongly lmfao
Incorrectly
And they pay this guy smh
"seasnakes to worry about" no there is not. Sea snakes live ar coral reefs, you are not plowing an aircraft carrier threw shallow water were the coral reefs with sea snakes are! Stop lying for drama.
I knew it! I watched mythbusters
Navy stopped all man stuff.
Sharks ate men lost at sea 🌊 ww2 or just boats sinking with a crew inside.
Yeah well sometimes they are only 1 foot away from the surface..
just put a big net area 50×50 15 feet deep
Get time to enjoy AMERICA where their is time…CHINA IS PREPARING FOR WAR AGAINST YOUR AIRCRAFT CARRIER..
Sharks don't eat people. They are just curious, right!? That's what they say
Op
Bullets don’t skip off of water they deteriorate fall apart
We make rounds that cavity the water around them and allow for full power underwater. Those sharks better watch out.
4 years of active duty and I spent it all aboard the USS Nassau. During that time, we had only one swim call and that was inside the ships well deck. Steel beach picnics, on the other hand were more often.and something we looked forward to during that period when we spent 63 days straight underway at sea.
Shooting in water is not effective, but explosives are, because water, as a medium denser than air, transmits the shock wave better. So they should throw grenades at the sharks…
Floppy spined women?
Gunner? Why not a few free divers? Fully equipped naval ship and no fins and goggles
Wonder if China's Navy is so risk averse.
Shark bait ooo ha ha. Let everyone else jump in then you can go.
They still give swim calls and still let us jump off the carriers
"The culture of safety"
These guys are literally trained to parachute out of planes at night, plant explosives, deep sea dive in submarines etc etc….but we can't let them swim for fun? 😑
what if the sharks who have US passports.
"…BEFORE the invention of safety…" Good one!
how many sailors are alcoholics?
I seen a ship commander dive from the flight deck of a LSD class ship in his khaki uniform, but this is the commander who lost his ship because being married was sleeping with the female MO while on the way haha.
The navy said they can not in good conscience have the world see their incredibly relaxed body weight standards. The navy is now not fat, it's majority obese.
Damn some shade thrown at Greenland sharks game lol
