  1. For me, that I can remove the outboard from the water entirely, and have no drag and no concerns about anti-fouling, is the second most important reason to choose outboards.

  2. Great episode as always! Can you remind us what software you use for editing these amazing videos?

  3. You're life is so special!!! Blessed to have your boat and each other 😊 I get motivated to make dreams happen watching this.

  4. love drifters. i've heard em described as a genoa+code 0 + spinnaker ….that sound like another way to describe it ? at least in terms of the code 0 part

  5. Two thumbs up on the drifter – had a nylon, jib-cut drifter for my B24 and for those summer afternoons when the wind evaporated, it was the ticket… easy to hoist (used to leave the jib hanked on, just tied to the deck/pulpit) the drifter got us moving again untill the wind picked back up – like an idiot I let it go, and now that I have another B24 I wish (wish) I had it back…

  6. Beautiful video! How long of a sail from Tangier to Ewell? We are sailing the Crisfield, Tangier Island, Smith Island triangle in May. If Windpuff is up to joining us, please do!!

  7. great idea for upcoming stuff. thanks for sharing and keep the awesome content comin', save sailin cheers

  8. Very interesting video with finer points of sailing/boat travel and points of interest! Thanks for this video, and fair winds/following seas & safe travels!

  9. Just one thing today.
Your chip needs a good cleaning. I first noticed a couple of spots on the frame a while back, but it's definitely getting to be an issue; especially when you have a significant light background.

Nice job guys otherwise. I'm looking forward to the refit series.

  10. Thanks for the comments regarding regen. I'm planning to repower my S2 11.0 A (LWL 28.25', SA/D 16.5) with an electric motor and have wondered when or if regen would offer any practical benefit. I am surprised to hear regen drag drops the boat's speed that much. I would have guessed less than half a knot, but I have no experience with it so a guess is all it would have been. It would be interesting to know what speed range correlates with the 1 to 4 amp (48V?) range. Your theoretical hull speed would be about 7.5 knots so I assume that would be around 4 amp speed but wonder when you hit 1 amp.

  11. Can't wait on your take on an A30 refit!. (Quiet a few famous versions out there!) What are going to do with the big boat?

  12. I don't know much about sailboats but from watching YouTube channels I occasionally make a connection. Going into the Alberg we had Smut, probably a warm moist fermentation or fungus smut. Watching Maya fix up boats I recall he saying, " A healthy bilge is a healthy boat ( or something like to that effect). If I recall a structural consideration will be something called, " chain stays", I think these are just heavy metal straps or something similar. Also, decks and stuff needed retrofitting on some early models. As always, I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes, Confused about the synthetic dyeneema rigging for certain. Excited about power to say the least🌼

  13. The Alberg is deck stepped, will that be a problem with how loose synthetic rigging gets in the cold? Or will you constantly be adjusting it? Can't wait to see your solution

  14. I have to replace my engine in my Catalina 30. I would love to do an electric engine. I just don't really have the space for the battery bank. I have 560ah ish of lifepo4, but that wouldn't get me to 48 volts. I need the space for 6 people and The Bed Pirate Roberts(Our Cat) . Fortunately I can get 28hp marine diesels for $4100 dollars shipped. I might buy a spare just for parts. Beta Marine quoted me $13,500. I am doing a similar outboard setup to yours, as I think that would still work for me. So I am still going diesel, but also electric. I might be going with a smaller diesel for a 38hp for $1300…but I have yet to see if it will fit. I wanted the 14hp for $2800 but apparently they are out of stock. So if you want a cheap 20hp diesel I can get one that might fit Puff for $1000 or less.

  15. Interesting you get 1 1/2 knot hit. I’ve never been able to detect more than 1/4 knot speed reduction during regen on my boat.

  16. Congratulations on your accomplishment and the victory cruise up the Chesapeake. I got a chuckle out of "The Fluffy Butt Hut" at 15:15 and as a chicken caretaker I think I found a fowl feather friend I didn't know I had! Looking forward to the Alberg rebuild, there's a channel with a guy sailing all over the South Pacific on a 30 so they're definitely seaworthy vessels. Keep up the good work!

  17. What a cool island & great place to stop & explore. I thought the whole place had such a good feeling, it reminded me of many places I’ve lived & loved. I think I could easily live somewhere like that too & enjoy being away from the rat race of any city, not just the large ones!

  18. Years of combining great technical content and entertaining narratives, thank you both for your work. So excited to follow along with your new project!

  19. Looking forward to seeing your "new" boat built. My partner and I are setting up a Tom Gilmer designed Roughwater 33 for offshore and also don't have lots of money, we are just in the beginning stages now, but will be re-rigging with synthetic standing rig, new beefier chainplates, probably a small lithium house bank, and generally minimal electrical appliances, we want foot pumps for the sinks, manual windlass, etc, dickinson diesel stove rather than the knock off power sucking forced air heater we have now. Trying to follow in the spirit of the Pardey's minimalism, you know minus the engineless bit.

  20. The parrots are a nice touch on the video. I have 2 of them here in Colombia that have been re-homed. They play-fight just like yours. The previous owner had taught them to swear in Spanish unfortunately. Our guests, especially the ladies, don't take kindly to the names the parrots call them.
