11. If a drone dropped the distress beacon is it for potentially targeting an area for artillery fire or bombing or something. Or are there other likely uses?

12. Usually when they take people off of a vessel in distress, they throw a can of red paint over the hull to show any other boats that may encounter it that the crew has been rescued and authorities know about the vessel.
