  1. Anyone who voted shamanism is just going to spite vote sailings refinement stage tbh then they will pitch shamanism refinement which will be spite voted because sailing was spite voted against lol I honestly want both and pretty sure we will end up with nothing unless jagex makes it so only players who voted yes to sailing are allowed to vote in refinement (which I also think is unfair to others who just want to make vote on the refinement to have a say in sailing) I hope I’m wrong but if I’m right I can’t see how osrs will ever get a new skill unless in the initial pitch of several skills one wins by an absolute landslide or if jagex doesn’t poll it at all and just chooses a skill themselves and puts it in.

  2. I really hope that there is some form of afk training for sailing. Personally i wanted shamanism but im totally okay with anything else.

For the pvp aspect, it sounds like it'll be more a mini-game type thing than actually being part of the skill. Would be cool if we could get a good amount of xp from a pvp-minigame type of content,

  3. Excited for the skill but I don’t know if I’m excited for the sailing gameplay, at the moment I can’t see a way that the movement won’t be clunky. Hopefully the jmods will have a few different ideas to present after the refinement process.

A super basic explanation of something I would like to see below 🙂

I would love it if you have to dock your ship somewhere, just like POHs are in certain locations that you can change. It would be really cool if in the future “raiding” would be possible on ports. And if there is a dock in the wildy, that if you’re docked there, your ship can be pillaged or whatever unless you pay a fee to the port master but the raiders get that gold if they successfully raid the port.

  4. I'm leaning towards downvoting sailing because to me it doesn't seem as beneficial to me as shamanism would be. I'll see what they give us for info on it. If they were to add something like islands with instanced slayer caves, I'd 100% vote yes, like an instanced multi abby demons spot so I don't have to hop 40 worlds to do my tasks. Even if it costed like 100k to enter, I wouldn't mind it. I'm primarily PvM focused like the majority of the playerbase, so atleast something PvM focused about the skill would be nice. Some new upgrades or something.

  5. personally i prefer if Jagex focuses all their efforts on the skill itself rather than PVP as the vast majority of players probably wouldnt want to engage in pvp as much.

  6. You are only bringing up half the argument from Twitter. It’s the fact there is a third vote that influenced one way or the other. We don’t know what would have passed I a head to head and that’s the problem. I understand you want sailing over shamanism but you clearly showed your bias in leaving a very fundamental part of the argument out. Sadly content creators have a lot of pull and I think most believe sailing will give them the most hours of content for people to mindlessly watch.

  7. Sailing is just a multi skill… It simply will facilitate exploring new areas and performing other skills in new ways. I don't know how it really constitutes as a skill at all. I didn't hear one convincing argument for it, will have to see how this plays out but I feel itl be a complete joke.

  8. I disagree with the first point about asking for a Shamanism refinement. The most important thing right now—regardless of whether it was Sailing or any other skill that got to the Refinement stage—is that Jagex and the community can come to an agreement and settle on a design for this skill that they can be happy with and vote into the game.

If players see more than one refinement, it's only going to continue to divide the playerbase and leave people wondering about what could have been, instead of focusing on the pitch that's being given to them—in this case, Sailing.

I think the best possible thing we can do is to put Shamanism well behind us and focus entirely on Sailing so that everyone, regardless of what they voted for, can all be on the same team and all help Jagex give us the best skill they can. It would be so disappointing if, after all this time, it doesn't pass the final poll due to spite votes or people still thinking about alternative skills.

  9. I voted for both Sailing and Shamanism, and voted Shamanism as my favorite. I’m happy to see either enter the game as both skills sound very exciting to me. I’m very happy to see Jagex still intends to expand on Shamanism, despite its loss. I look forward to seeing what becomes of Sailing over the next year.

  10. Meh, sailing just seems like another step towards casualscape imo, something that should be a side activity or a well fleshed out mini-game. It really sounds like a much needed expansion for combat/fishing/construction and a good way to broaden the map but shamanism seemed like a much better way to work with what is currently in the game to bring life back to the dead skilling economy and enhance all combat styles with item buffs. At the end of the day, seems like the devs are steering the osrs to cater to the casual ironman players but if it's done correctly, it definitely could open up the possibility for another skill in the future hopefully shamanism. I also like the idea of adding taming in as a hunter expansion

  11. Honestly with Sailing and Shamanism being so close together. I think they should plan on releasing both skills eventually, and make an executive decision to release whichever one will take the least dev time first or something like that. That way the one that would take more dev time could be worked on without some kind of time crunch associated with it. Hope that makes sense.
