  1. I also have a golf range finder which has helped me on two occasions when someone came along and anchored too close… I just calmly showed them the distance and explained if the boats do touch their insurance would likely not pay out!

  2. It wasn’t the African pirates that reduced the population, in 1841 the population was in excess of 6.5 million, today it’s just over 5 million. Mainly due to starvation and emigration during the mid 19th century. This taken from the Central Statistics office;
    Census 2022 marked the first time in 171 years that the population of Ireland surpassed 5 million people. After a constant decline since 1851, Ireland's population recorded its lowest level in 1961 when it stood at 2,818,341. It then began to increase again and, in 2022, was 83% higher than 61 years previously.

  3. I can’t figure out why some boaters drop anchour so close. It’s like your own boat doesn’t exists. Especially after one of u have to move to a perfectly good location, because there was lots of room in the anchorage. Thanks for the stories and good times at anchour. 🇨🇦

  4. Great to look back and see nice weather . Forgotten what that’s like. Hope you’re both safe at the moment. Tom Cunliff has posted a video on anchoring etiquette and the importance of a mooring ball if a claim is necessary. It is good that they moved as you say, but that should have happened after your first request not a lengthy discussion. You should have captured the person involved and sold as a slave. 🤠

  5. Bacon sandwiches… helps a lot for many things..🙂👍 Btw fired up the diesel heater yet…winter is coming? Anyways looking forward to your next video..

  6. I hate it when people anchor to close.
    A couple of years ago I was crewing on my friends 56ft boat, him and his wife were on shore having a date night and I was left on the boat with the 10 y/o girl. I just made dinner and we were eating in the saloon when suddenly I saw a boat backing up just 2 meters to our port. It was a huge 60ft charter Catamaran with French crew, they decided that hanging 10m behind our stern with only 1:3 scope was okay and the stepped into their dingy and zoomed of. Later that night we had to be all hands on deck trying to fender of the big cat, because they were well inside our swing range. Luckily no damage but no sleep as well.

  7. We looked at Horseshoe Bay and crossed it off the list. Our smallest anchorage was on Gola. There was definitely only room for one boat and lots of rocks and a few fishing boys to avoid on arrival!

  8. You are talking about the Barbary Pirates from Africa. They used to raid the South West of England as far up as the Severn to enslave fishermen and people on land. Did the same around that part of Ireland. Took whole villages as slaves.
