#Waverover #ForgeYourOwnAdventure În acest videoclip, Wave Rover este pregătită pentru primul ei uragan. Apoi o verificăm 5 zile mai târziu după ce a trecut uraganul. Fac un tur al Halifax cu prietenul meu Kevin Boothby din „How to Sail Oceans” „Forge Your Own Adventure”

My condolences on the passing of your mother. Glad to see everything OK after your well done prep for the storm. Going to have to put Halifax on my list. Thanks for the video.
Another successful trail passed. The little boat is proving to be doing your workmanship proud. Well done sir.
So sorry about your mom brotha. Love your channel
Great to see that Wave Rover II made it through the bad weather. Great preparation on getting her buttoned up!. Also thanks for the tour of Halifax and environs. My parents were in and out of there during WW2. Dad was RCAF and Mum was a WREN. Was nice to see Levin from HTSO. Two of my favourite channels on you tube. Fair Waimea and following seas, Alan. Cheers
Honestly the first thought that comes to mind when I think Halifax is how many sailors that last set foot on land was Halifax . I mean just during wwii alone must of been massive . Ad almost 4 centuries of shipping and fishing
I enjoyed your Halifax tour. Interesting fact: the first Canadian to complete a single handed yacht race circumnavigation (the '86/'87 BOC), John Hughes, still lives there. His 40' yacht, Joseph Young, was named after our grandfather (he is my cousin!). That, and the fact that Joshua Slocum was originally a Nova Scotian, lends some significance to your port call there… Bon voyage!
My condolences on the passing of your mum, Good to see you getting out and about continuing on with life and meeting friends, this is the best medicine 👍
I enjoyed the tour of Halifax which I visited perhaps 50 years ago. A big thank you, Alan.
It’s funny Alan, it looks like you’ve done a phenomenal job building your boat, but it’s also becoming clear that you really are a sailor, more than a boat builder!
Wave Rover is proving itself by weathering the storm.
Wonderful tour of Halifax. Next time, please add some subtitles or zoom in enough to read the signs describing what your are showing. I now have the Maritime Museum on my list of places to visit.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother. Please accept my condolences.
I'm glad that your boat weathered the storm. I'm meant to be in Canada right now, but things got in the way.
We were visiting Halifax, NS at the time of the Swiss Air disaster in ‘98 and were totally blown away by how the local community quickly pulled together to assist in the search and rescue as well as provide housing and support for the families of the victims. The kindness was truly heroic given the scale of the tragedy. ❤
Happy Wave Rover made it relatively unscathed.
OMG – famous biggest non nuclear explosion called Halifax explosion – was in THIS Halifax.
Amazing views. Hope you always in safe journey
All my best from España!
Que viva wave roberII !
What a nice encounter, Kevin is a phenomenal sailor.
Very cool to see you get together with the "How to sail oceans" guy.
Nothing feels more secure than overpreparing!
3:40 That must have been a joyous return to the anchorage, finding her so serene after the storm. What a beautiful vessel you built Alan, (and in such pace.) She’s modest and non-pretentious , yet elegant and strong in appearance. 4:20 and onwards, your smile says it all… Hats off to you and the naval architect, and the whole team! Looking forward to the next stage in your adventure, may you find good winds!
Thank God you had that large bit on the foredeck!!!
You're in the best place possible. Was there two years ago. Loved the place.
Allen I always remove the sails for less windage but I'm sure you know what is required in your current area ❤❤
Thanks Alan for great video and your masterpiece boat. Loved watching your build, love seeing you sail. Fair winds to you.
30 yrs. in navy made 4 trips to Halifax for courses., winter, winter, winter and winter, it looks much nicer in summer. Ret'd now, will have to make at least one more trip to be there when the sun is shining. Enjoy your vids, thanks for posting.
Older boats just have a beauty and functionality combined that’s unmatched in my opinion.
I hope that your mother's funeral all went well.
If you're ever in the UK, make sure that you visit the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Cornwall. It's the same sort of set up as the one that you've just visited in Halifax.
If you get to the Shetland Islands, the is a tiny museum on Unst (the furthest North point of the UK) called the Boat Haven. I managed to keep myself occupied for about 4 hours and even my wife enjoyed it for nearly as long.
Alan and Kevin Boothby! Two of my Steve's favourite solo sailors. Fair winds!
Wow those wooden boats were amazing! Thanks for sharing; and to the see Kevin from “How to Sail Oceans “ another one of my favorite sailing channels.
Your hat, were you Captain of the Winnipeg? Is she a Fast Frigate? Just guessing.
The Quartermaster*
Allan, next time, you will be better served if you gather all your halyards, topping lift, flag, and radar reflector lines together using bungee cords then with a separate line, pull the whole bundle back and fasten it to the stern pulpit. This way, you keep all your halyards and other lines off the mast.
This stops the paint on the mast from wearing off.
Halifax also has link to the Golden age of Canadian Piracy! I loved reading about the Privateer turned Pirates of those areas. The story of poor Edward Jordan was very thought provoking.
Fun fact…that tall mast at The Lower Deck was the old main mast out of Bluenose II. The Maritime Museum is my favourite spot in Halifax.
Whilst in Bermuda a few years ago, i met some shipmates from Nova Scotia, i thought they were from the West of Ireland such was their accents
Was the FFH HMCS Winnipeg a ship you served on Alan? I'm sure people would be interested in your past, civil and military.
My grand father was in an orphanage in Halifax when the explosion occurred. I believe it was in 1917 and not 1918. He was scarred in the face by flying glass and had that scar his whole life.
I know that guy! What a fitting meetup. It's probably been a long enough time since Kevin's engineless circumnavigation that the destinations along the way have changed somewhat but I'm sure you had a meaningful exchange nonetheless about your upcoming legs.
Alan & Kevin…two Rock Star sailors!
Another watch, another like. I can't believe you won't be building another boat! Of course after a circumnavigation I am sure that Mrs. Wave Rover would like you to stay on terra firma for a while. Take care and best wishes to you and Mrs. Wave Rover for a great weekend.
Good to see you with Kevin.
All of those beautiful wood boats! Good for the soul. You forgot to mention the fish and chips at the Lower Deck, I highly recommend it.
A superb video! I'm sure that you must have been so relieved to see WR2 safe after such a hard blow.
Halifax looks like a very interesting place place. I grew up listening to my Grandfather's relation tell me stories about the place during the War, then heading back to Liverpool.
Hey, Alan!
All the best to you, your family and Wave Rover! 💪😎👍
Thanks for the tour of Halifax, Alan! And good to see that WR2 came through in such great shape.
