  1. Randall, we're enjoying your videos and look forward to next season as you share your journey of b.o.a.t. (break out another thousand) ownership with us.
I particularly appreciate the voice over narration. It's much easier to understand.

  2. Oh Ran-day..that was ugly..sitting in my boat aka home now with a storm outside and extra lines to the dock.😮😅 Since my father was on his boats always of the extra ropes…I now teasingly call that the "Elzenga norm"…I do sleep peacefully (really?!?!😅) in terms of that tonight in the storm. But so many nice experiences too I see and yes..Walter is right..I will think of that more often too.."relax!! and enjoy the boat"..👍😎❤

  3. In 2000 I had a 71 Tartan 30, a few alterations from previous owner did not look as if they knew what they were doing. Understatement. I had a boat mechanic look at the engine, and he said ,The Wiring looks like it was done by a spider on Acid!

  4. Ran-day! I would be a hypocrite if I said that I don’t miss the Captain, but you have managed to keep the channel interesting with great guests and your own boat experiences. Keep bringing us great content, you have my support 💯

  5. I started following your channel about 2 years ago after I took sailing lessons with a local club. I purchased a small sailboat earlier this year and was able to start sailing last month. It's an American 18 and is perfect for my family to take out on the lake. Thank you for sharing your adventures and knowledge!

  6. It’s refreshing to see you be so honest about new boat ownership !! I’m all in !! tell the captain hello ,we all miss him.
    Fair winds ⛵️

  7. Rand-day, I made the same mistake not using double lines and it chewed up the side of my Island Packet just like yours. Hard lesson but it won't happen again! 🙂

  8. The trials and tribulations of boat ownership. But you wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

  9. As a cofounder of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine and a Casco Bay sailor, I congratulate you on your love of bikes and boats. Sorry about your storm damaged port bow.

  10. What's all this Randall stuff?? Everyone knows that you're name is to remain forever Ran-dayyy.. I really hope you share boat work and projects with us.. it would make for great content..

  11. I love your boat… loved it when you and Capt Q went through it.. its got the beautiful green and the classic elegant sailboat look

  12. Awe the joys of boat ownership lol. Don"t worry my friend, you will eventually get it all sorted out and Walter is right. Relax and enjoy it. Its a long game. Look forward to catching up with your progress. Give Cap'n Q my best regards. Perhaps we'll see him now and again in future episodes.

  13. Capt Q if you check the comments just wanted you to know that you're missed and I hope you're doing great and enjoying life..

  14. Although you have now doubled and more your dock lines May i suggest you invest if some Elke hide and make a sleeve for those lines where thy go around the pilings .It is something we do on the west coast where we have exposed moorings to wind and weather .like you have .or an alternative a multi layered rubber hose you can sleeve over your lines .as you don't have cleats on your dock for mooring. to tie off too..

  15. Thanks for sharing! I too recently acquired a sailboat and trying not to get absorbed by the never ending list of improvements I think I need to get done right away. As you I do a little bit of work to improve her, then relax enjoying the moments only a boat can provide (even in bad weather), repeat.

  16. Randall I know what you mean about being in somewhat over your head. I'm a fairly new owner of an RV which is basically a boat on wheels. That said you're a smart guy and youtube is your friend. Most, but not all, of the time someone has made a youtube video about what you want to work on, take advantage of them. Keep the good stuff coming buddy and please keep us up to date on the captain.

  17. Really enjoy what you are doing on the channel ,like your boat and look forward to seeing how you’re going to refit her.
    Thanks!

  18. Hey Randay they make a product called Hull Shield. You put a few of these transducers just on the inside of your boat and they keep Sea life from growing on your boat. It's around $1500 for a 32 ft sailboat set up and no more antifoul or scraping of the boat. Great reviews on it also. Might be worth a looksy.

  19. Ran-day! Great video. I have to admit the videos make this prospect look daunting. Very cool nonetheless. Not sure this is an endeavor for a 50yo pharmacist that dreams of sailing but never has. Who knows. Great stuff, say hi to the ol captain Q.

  20. So please tell us, did you ever change your dripless stuffing box to a traditional box, or another dripless? Access seems to be a bit of an issue at least from the one picture you shown.
Love the video, missed the regulararity of them but will take what you have

  21. Bloody boats…. I've had 27. Now have a 35ft simple tiller steered Joe Adams designed go boat that's been worked on by an engineer for 5 years. He just loved to work on boats. It has a VHF radio even!!! That's about the electrics. I bought a GPS plotter that has some alligator clips for offshore. There's nothing to go wrong. I singlehanded it 800 miles back from Tasmania and for awhile was sitting on 16kts. Still nothing broke. I keep it anchored off our village 30 miles up a river for no money so the only cost is $120 a year for registration. I self insure and have $2000 worth of anchor and chain for a boat that weighs 3000 kilos. Being fresh water there's no growth on the bottom.
I feel very lucky….. finally figured out boat ownership. Turn 80 next year.
