  1. What is the best deterrent for hawks?

    Use Common Decoys

Decoys often make good deterrents if utilized appropriately. Unfamiliar shapes make hawks nervous. Scarecrows keep hawks on guard, but to ensure effectiveness over time, you must move scarecrows around frequently. I would get several the bigger the better perhaps.

  2. The Nomadic movement are in Panama built an ingenious water system with a pump that is strictly mechanical and pumps far and high. check out their channel they give complete instructions, and other than the pipe which you need either way but the parts cost around $20. As for drinking it get a britta pitcher that purifies as you drink it.

  3. You should be collecting pure rain from roofs and storing it in tanks instead of dirty water that needs energy to clean it.

  4. The sound of the pump will be rude and remove the birds and other wildlife you want around. The danger you both face from putting yourselves in extream isolation is real. The wildlife will inform you of danger if you learn to hear and understand it… and keep it around.
You are in a world not made for you. The extent you will ever be comfortable will always be limited and never not without struggle.

  5. I just got back from crewing on a boat in the Suriname river. I spent some time with a young lady who volunteered for a snake organization. One of the many discussions were how chickens on person’s property would bring snakes from the jungle. This was so much so that if a person was to need snake venom, they would go to the veterinarian and not the hospital. The bushmaster was the most poisonous. It will kill you in 20 minutes, but the anaconda just scares the holy Jesus out of me lol

  6. The previous owners went to a lot of work building all that is on your property. Do you know what happened to them and why it all went to ruin?

  7. You should investigte hydraulic ram pumps. Using the energy from the flowing water below you can pump water uphill to your living area.

  8. Love your channel it’s almost painful waiting till Sunday morning. May I suggest you see DIY solar Power with Will Prowse recent videos testing and tear down’s . He’s also that little nerd we love . Take care with all this weird weather!

  9. Check into a ram pump I think it will do what you need. It's mechanical, no electricity or gas. It can push water up a hill around 400 feet.

  10. Too funny on the septic tank! I helped my mom's boyfriend put charcoal into his springbox at his property in Georgia. It worked well 😅 !

  11. Having had a well I can do a little more to the design, first I think 50mm or 2" pipe would be needed for the flow and you should have a tank at the top with a capacity for about 3 days. You would use a second pump from the tank to the home and taps under pressure. The bottom pump I would recommend submersible as that way you do not have to pull a vacuum and push making pump options cheaper and easier. additionally having a non return valve is good for the pump seals and life a 2hp submersible pump would do the work but is it electric?

To make it hands free you can have a flow control switch and a float at the tank, set the tank to fill when it is down to half and a second float switch (as you are surface level) to stop the pump when the pump is almost above the water. Or if you are petrol you could just go start it up (you would need a foot valve on the intake and pump below the water level as it would have little to no syphon till primed and would wear like a brake disk till the water is there.

Last with the tank you can have a float in a tube in the tank with a wire and red ball to show you how much water is in it ours was vertical initially but we had to go U shaped and show the water level on the outside of the tank when the wind kept bending the steel wire.

How would you power a 2hp pump as that is 1.5 KW and 2.6 Gallons an hour so tank size etc.

This gives you a starting point as for the pipe I would look at LDPE and a continuous run as there would be 35ish PSI in the pipe continuously. LDPE is sun stable so can just sit on the ground and can be rolled down the hill and wired in loops around trees to hold the weight of the water unless you want to dig and bury in a trench (without water in the pipe you will need to dig it in 1 to 2 feet and put in a gravel base for water to flow as it will float when the ground is waterlogged) I would leave it on the surface and loose some length in loops around trees (not too tight as you do not want to kink it).

Anyway that is my 2c and all the traps I can think of.

  12. I love that you are not afraid to tackle the difficult things you stumble on. Keep it up and you will realize the fruits of all your hard work. Water is the source of Life. I like the idea of clearing back and adding a patio and Well house to help keep the water cleaner.
