1. I went to Tarifa, which is the absolute south tip of Spain with my van for the world surf cup with all of my equipment in it . Slept in it too, and got robbed two times near Marbella at night on my way down, when i was sleeping in the van. Could scare the burglars away, but left in fear. , And in the city of Almeria as well on by way back. I was dining on an outside street restaurant, just on the other side of street, where my car was 10 meters away in eyesight. Just when one public bus passed between us for only a few seconds, my van was window smashed and radio stolen, and photo equipment stolen. I had to fix the broken window with duct tape and the plastic window of one surf sail, as it was friday late afternoon, and every car workshop closed. Drove that way all the way over some 2400 km ( 1500 mls) up to my home, north Germany in one shot.

  2. Good to point out for Croatia, if entering by boat , enter by official port of entry , or you pay a fine, and it has to be the first one you pass, you cannot skip past one for another,

  3. Getting a SIM card without address is getting difficult because of the criminals using burner phones (since nokia 3310) so basically every SIM card needs an ID and address. Still plenty of corruption in the Med countries and I don't think flying the murican flag is doing much good for you in Europe…Ken, while you are not the average loud, arrogant and ignorant american you still sometimes get treated as one because of the flag

  4. nice one the highs and lows of the Med. Yes Croatia was Fantastic!!!! Slovenia also awesome. Italy I don't know I hear mixed reviews. Greece I hear is Beautiful. Looking forward to your next video

  5. Hello! Thanks for all the information, you both gave us a very good overall vision of sailing the Med. I believe for someone like me (from Brazil), not married to someone with an european visa, it might be quite a speedy vacation the 90 days limits. And, since there's not much places to go, things might be a bit on the fast lane 🙂
A somwhat delicate question: do you felt, anytime in Italy, that they were "contrary" to your stay there because of the US flag on the boat or it was against foreigners in general? Thanks once more, see you next week! Fair winds!

  6. Croatia bad? I have been there for approximately 16 -=17 years every year and I think its fantastic , but then we went to a small place north, and after the warit became quite expensve. it used to be vey cheap though. Moscenska draga, is now far from where we live (asia) but we hope to visit it again
the food is absolutely fantastic, tartar and bransin are still frssh in my mind. The wind bora is every afternoon and regularly you find scirocco as well, super hot, and always uinexpected.

like your reviews, thank you. "Schenegenang zone"? makes me laugh its SCHENGEN.. and its a pain in the behind as those with a visa (like my wife) can only go in limited and then must stay out 3 months at least. but thansk guys. great review

  7. Thankyou for your positive views on Croatia. I live and sail Croatia and the negative comments from some sailors is disturbing. Croatia is a lovely country and a great sailing area. Great video, fair winds,,,,

  8. Italy: Palermo – good experience at marina Sitimar. The town is pure Visconti and Antonioni, take it or leave it. Very good experience with the locals on land. Museums are fab Food was to my liking. Waste management is still an issue, traffic quite heavy, but neither is a deal breaker over all.Cagliari – very basic Marina Del Sole, but also inexpensive – under e30 for 38ft, first week of May. Town is ancient, picturesque, lots to see. To eat – try “eTrigu Pizzeria Bar Bistrot”, on Viale Armando Diaz, 152, not far from the marina.Spain: can recommend Yacht Port Cartagena marina – price, services and convenience. Town is your typical Spanish town. Visited municipal archeological museum, quite good (minus vulgar display of Repsol sponsorship in the middle of the excavated site). South of Cartagena is quite desolate. Anchored overnight at Aguilas Bahia de Levante, no charge. Shallow and small, but a welcome shelter. Didn’t bother stopping till Faro. Loved the Algarve coast.

  9. Steve and I have enjoyed your comments regarding the Med. Having sailed Croatia and Greece charter boats we could really engage with your point of view. We lived in the N Netherlands for 28 years before returning to Australia. Spain was always so cheap…. However, we absolutely loved Italy the most. They’ve retained their culture aged traditions and at not over run by tourists. They’re not ‘showy’ but if you take the time they’re very friendly and truly committed to helping you enjoy their country. It would be interesting for us to visit by sea. We’re both hope you continue to be well and happy x Love Steve & Kerry 😘
