I've always viewed a yacht like a home. I wouldn't want to live in a home with super high end furniture and styling. I want something comfortable and less opulent.
Form should follow function.
Practicality over style every time. Especially if you wish to spend a lot of time onboard with family and friends and not just with clients you are trying to impress.
SAFETY, then Practicality, then with the combination of styling. Westport 130 in this case is perfect: Why not stow things on a deck-space that during ‘underway’, you can’t use anyway. I prefer Mahogany over Cherry-wood anyday… 😊
A Westport without the country kitchen? Say what? Bob Denison will be pleased. They finally learned their lesson.
I love it
I don't know if David will be happy with me saying so – but the YachtBuyer channel did a tour of this same yacht with the crew quarters and engine room a few months back. I thought it was really interesting to see how different people understand the same yacht. Salva does much better photography.
Not going to lie, as an American I'm looking for range first, and nothing else.
This yacht is stunning. Definitely not over stylized yet gorgeous. Being an American of half Italian decent i appreciate both styles. But in general this is more to my liking. Unfortunately not to my bank accounts liking. Wonderful job as always David. I would LOVE to cook in that galley. I do love style where I cook. That is my relaxation place.
I love your analytical breakdown, which in my view is spot on.
Talking of practicality, I will soon be in the market for a floating executive office, around the 40 to 50 mil mark, which there seems to be a lack of. I would really be interested in your take on this as I have not seen anything suitable.
Its jst fckng incredible……. I have 146. ))))) What can I do?
Great yacht love the open main deck! Love the room! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍
Bummer on the engine room tour… bridge area is nice and open! 👍👍
Yeah head clearance is nice! 👍👍
Another gorgeous yacht! This is definitely a warm hug type of yacht and seen similar yachts before. It is interesting that Italian yacht builders tuned in and gave some leeway to the American market, I know their pride in yachts and the foundation. Benetti being one of my favorite builders. But as a side the hiding of accutrements (toys) I do believe one of two things, hidden: Guest is suprised the yacht has it. On Deck: We know the fun we are having! I love both concepts. Thank you again for a great tour!
For me, Westport epitomises stylish practicality
Thank you David. A very refreshing tour of a company I haven’t spent much time investigating. For my sake, I believe the Italians have the competitive edge. It’s something you find everywhere. Yes at times looks win over but in the end, it’s my money & with the use of clever incentives you can have a win-win with the Italians. I spoke to Azimut at one stage about the impracticality of the upper dining room on the Tri-deck & they agreed to remodel it, along with the impractical main salon rambling useless furniture. It’s in the art of negotiation. 🙏
Best Video As Always.
Hi lovely yacht I agree with you practically over style great design love the mahogany
Great yacht. Think you summed it up well, its like a home. Can imagine wanting to live on it and travel the world. To that point, totally understand not wanting go into crew and engine areas, but would be nice if could just mention how many crew and distance.
I must be honest and confess I've never been on one or seen one until now. All yachts have their own beauty and preferences. I imagine if you are living in America you buy what your country produces! However being in the UK we still have a choice of some of the best of British design and build quality boat's to choose from. It's seems to me a typical plain yacht I would not take to the Carribbean or the Mediterranean. Probably suitable for the older ones who are not fussed on design or posing in Monaco. 🎉❤
Two ovens in the galley are a superb choice. Perhaps the next time, should time allow, views of the pantry and wine storage spaces. Most install a useless 30 bottle front vent unit. A proper vessel needs proper wine storage. Reds and whites cannot be successfully stored in one unit because the temperatures cannot reasonably preserve each type. Dedicated units resolves that point. That said, whew, stunning vessel. I'm sorry to have missed a viewing. Please bring more of these to be viewed.
very nice
Great video 👍.
Beautiful yacht. Relaxed elegance. Robust, functional design. I would love that yacht 😀
Love the wood work
Shoot Dave, I thought it was just me, turns out my likes and dislikes about yachts make me a typical American. Nice video, thanks.
I do like the mahogany very much. I realize that it is rather out of fashion now, but so am i.
Love the lay out and boat
Ugh, crew and engines are extremely important. You keep apologizing for an American yacht. Americans prefer American craftsmanship.
2013 $17.4M !?? No thank$ !!
Well, I’m an American, and feel that this is about a perfect yacht. Elegant yet not stuffy. I much prefer this to most Italian yachts I’ve seen. So, we couldn’t tour the engine room or crew quarters, but what is the range of this yacht? And, if anyone knows, how many crew will it sleep?
If I were the owner of this yacht, I think I might look for another broker and ask you to take down this video. You seemed embarrassed to be selling this yacht. The whole theme seems to be "Well the Italians make beautiful yachts but this one is good enough and it's practical." The interior is quite nice in my opinion. The cabins seem to be comfortable, roomy, well designed and tastefully decorated. You described them as not having a "wow factor". There were lots of positives but you couldn't seem to find many. I've never really found Westports to be beautiful but I think if I were trying to sell one I would point out the positives. There are lots and lots of them. Very weird that you are absolutely pedantic about every other yacht you sell and then crapped all over this one.
Wonderful. Thank you.
I did not like this yacht. Just banging a load of mahogany in does not make it appealling. I think many other yachts have far better decor. It just looked very cold and there was not enough cohesion between the space, the finish and the furniture for my liking. Each to our own though!
You could have described the crew quarters. You're correct, as an American, I have no clue what you keep apologizing about. It's built exactly as I would commission. You need to move to Italy.
Most important to me is "RANGE"…
Live the content
I'm not a yacht owner, I don't even know how to sail. But as an american looking at youtube videos for 3 weeks, This is the first yacht where I've looked at it and thought to myself. Finally a ship that is a house , a home. Not trying to be a lamborghini Or a ferrari. Just a simple house on the ocean. I've never even heard of this company. There are a lot of content creators out there showing off yachts, And yes they're beautiful and yes they're stylish but they are definitely not elegant. Growing up in San Francisco.I've seen a lot of beautiful handmade boats with beautiful mahogany and in lay. There's nothing else in the world like it. But nowadays everyone's into carbon fiber and plastic. Everyone wants their ship to look like a sports car, But I would assume if I'm crossing the Atlantic for a month.I'd want to take a piece of home with me. And this yacht is definitely doing that. 1 of those cabinets in the bedroom, would cost 20,000 u.s., and about a 6 month build time. Just saying.
The problem with you European nations is you have these yachts looking like museums and are not the least bit comfy because you think it is a "status". Americans know to make it about comfort and convivence, not just for the guests/owner but for crew as well. The fact you are crusing around in a 130' yacht says enough, no need to make it uncomfortable and awkward.
How many miles does it get ?! What the speed?!
I love watching your show – very informative – I was going back through and I watched this one – I can only say that I don’t see why you keep going on about the differences between the Italian yacht builders and the American – show the yacht !
I love this yacht and it packs so much bang in a yacht. I realize it's a large yacht but it seems there is so much in this yacht for it's size.
I think this yacht gives some Italian yachts a run for their money.
I saw the crew quarters on nautistyles. The engine room is spectacular and so are the crew quarters
The only thing for me is I feel like any yacht over 100 ft should have a captains state room behind the pilot house.
I watched another video earlier this week and saw PIPE DREAM in the B-ROLL and the background of several other videos, but I wasn't impressed with the 'style.' But then again, what is style? It's relative to what you love. It's art with a 'draw,' pun intended. I want credit if used, lol.
Then I watched the PIPEDREAM video, and your comment about building the boat around the design made perfect sense. This is what I want—function over style.
On to another video.
Whist not having the much touted WOW factor and all the excitement that goes with it, this vessel has the much understated AHH factor, the much more difficult something else that promotes an almost unostentatious relaxing of tension as you settle into any of the seats with a cool drink in hand and exclaim with a deep sigh AHH,
I have 200 Dollars, what yacht can I get?
Wow ! you say nothing about speed, or distance, etc
