How cool woulda been to be in Turkey for Thanksgiving.😊
Thanks!
The amphitheatre was recently mentioned on my X feed and then I see you are THERE. Great video!
He is meeting his friend so must make waves.
Clearly many beat me the the question, but wondering the same, is there a sense of urgency at each location to maximize your stops in the season, or are you trying to time your packages in the mail? What’s the rush?
Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks
…and 60 Euro to takeoff. Crooks
IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO RUN THOSE MOTORS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. KEEPS THEM LUBED.
Sam i want to teach you how to make music on cubase i love when you make your own music and im sure you have some free moments while saling
SAM you know Turkey is an incredible place to stay longer- So much of ancient places to see- I spend six months in Turkey and visited the seven church ages- You missed something mate.
Your looking good.Better donations if you cut the hair.Probably not right.Anyway.
Don't sail to israeli waters they'll sink ya boat….
worth it! Thanks for the brief tour.
I'll tell you a little secret from an ex-mapmaker. We deliberately put errors in maps. Known to us but not to anybody else. Specially not our compettitors. Why you may ask? It was/is for copyright reasons. Ofcourse we meticulously administrated those 'errors' so we could always retrace them.
AND more importantly we would be able to verify if/when a competitor stole our map. Handy as evidence in court.
Turkey is a country worth investigating. Why the urgency to move on to Albania? Are you intending to go in to croatia? It is a wonderful sailing area and there are loads of old ruibs, beautiful waterfalls, the Krka waterfaĺls from Split and from Rijeka the Plitvice Lakes. And lots of roman ruins. Obviously you intend going to Venice. Anyway, safe journey.
If you do go to croatia please make sure you go to Korcula and Dubrovnik.
It's not too many years since I was sailing in the Greek Islands (Southern Ionian and Cyclades). I recall that the paper charts at the time were based on British Admiralty charts that were surveyed by sextant in the eighteen hundreds and subject to an error of up to 1.5 nautical miles!!! If your electronic charts were based on them, it could explain why Islands were in the wrong place.
You can get accurate way points for harbour entrances and marine navigation hazards from a good pilot book.
Turkey has so much to see. Hopefully next time you get to stay longer
Ok Sam, I personally would spend weeks in Turkey. There are some great ruins to visit and the culture is fantastic. Oh well.
You could spend months in Turkiye if you wanted to, so much to see. Watch out for the Albanian gangsters.
I just don’t understand how you have over 200K subscribers and have such terrible sound and editing. Yes I’m one if those subscribers but I keep thinking that one day you will spend more time editing or find someone to do it for you. Content is great, I think, but the poor sound and spotty editing almost makes me start skipping your posts.
Get you coming and going . Whatever you do, don't get arrested !
The fake islands on Navionics could be deliberate "watermarks" that chart makers use to catch copyright theft
I don't understand why you didn't stay longer in Turkey. Looked interesting.
Not to criticize, I guess I just do not understand the circumstances is all. Turkey looked awesome and you said you wish you could spend more than a day there, so why couldn't you? You are doing what many of us could only wish for, or will hope to do after many many years or preparation ourselves. I would think you could go as fast or slow as you want, money providing. If you find a place you enjoy, I thought the idea was to stay there and explore and take it all in for as long as a visa lasted in that country. If I get to the point in my own boat that i can do a circumnavigation such as that, far far down the road, I would have thought that was the way to go. Leave behind the junky or expensive locations and spend more of your time in the fantastic places.
I hope you can find a Barber there in turkey
I like the "whirlwind touring" with Sam. I remember visiting Kos Greece and Antalya Turkey in the 90s. That video really captures the Mediterraneanish vibe of that area – it seems timeless.
Please check out the Mosques in Turkey. Hagia Sophia.
