  1. this may be too late, but my recommendation: hire a mason for a day and get the system down. He will know the best materials sources, the fastest, strongest, cheapest method. Then you two copy what he showed you.

  2. As long as your thickness of the mud is good, and the string is level, you can work out small irregularities in height and vertical level quite easily. Just make tiny, gradual variations and it will go great! Looks good so far! Glad you got premix a lot easier.

  3. it would be stronger if you dipped each block into a waterbath before setting them. Dry blocks suck up the moisture out of the mortar, thus weakening the joint.

  4. Hey Matt I built my gate 16' opening If you plan to move 8 foot wide trailers you need bigger opening all measurements on gate based 4' 8' 12' 16' we went with two 8' foot gate that swing together, they fit perfectly in 16 foot opening,it is ideal if you need turn on to road. Hey I love your videos, been watching every since started on youtube. Good luck.

  5. I love your channel. I've watched virtually every video. While I enjoy this new project, I must say I do miss the sailing, visiting other Islands and places on those islands and Kristin's bikinis. I was wondering if you could show us some of the things, towns, bars, stores, where you are without giving away where you are.

  6. You need to build a wooden box as a small cement mixing station. 36 Length by 24 width by 8 inches in depth. That enough to mix 80 pounds of cement at the point of pour. 3 to 1 works. you'll need stone mix to back fill the wall. that when you need to find a mixing box 6 foot by 4 ft in steel. depth is 2 to 4 inches. let you mix 300 lfs of cement. you tube how people in Indian mix cement. they mix it on the ground with a small pit and on boxes. how it helps in the future. once you mix a few you have a place to mix cement and move it? hard part moving it. hand shovel trowel. you'll figure it out.

  7. My love’s im just 21, very busy figuring out my way living on the island but would love to spare some time, help out and give you some tips plus show you how the boricuas work on the land! I have experience with probably everything you guys would love to do on the ranch! If I don’t feel confident getting my hands on some of your ideas, will for sure get you on the right track and connect y’all with the right guys or right materials!

  8. … saw matt lifting the blocks from the top one… if you’re looking for stickyness and a solid apply, this is something we do for inner roofs but mixing tile glue with youre normal cement mix and getting it to you’re desired consistency will make the bond much stronger

  9. Together you are constructers, way above being proficient in one trade. General contractor say's you know how to get the compleated project done, trusting to your abilities with faith in believing, to work with what you have, both material and labor and willing for the help of other peoples help, then project gets done. Perfect general home contractor now to implement constructing whats next. Second home i saw you both build, cool…bendiciones…m

  10. matt consider putting some concrete in between the holes of the block to make it more solid. don't fill every hole but maybe every other. there is also small wire you can put in between the blocks to link them together and make it stronger.

  11. Kudos for taking on the task to get it done. Plenty of pros in this channel that will help guide you and offer good advice from their years of experience. Everyone wants you to succeed.

  12. Great job, You’re definitely on the right track. I bought the cheapest house in my neighborhood and slowly improved it over 30 year. I made exactly $1 million profit when I sold it all my remodel was trial and error and if your not sure how to do a project check It out on YouTube, there are some really awesome old salts from the sailing world that have a lot of courage and will try anything at least once!

  13. Well, if you lost 6 inches she’s not gonna be very happy. Sooner or later, she’s gonna say damn. You have several options you can go to the fun store you could take down the block wall. You can give me a call ha ha ha ha ha ha just kidding don’t get bored say happy go for a boat ride.

  14. Matt, you’re doing a great job as a beginner. One suggestion, you may want to purchase a strike off tool. Put your thumb on the joints, if it sticks to it, it’s not ready to strike off. If it doesn’t stick to it you’re ready for tooling the joints. Try to do this consistently otherwise your joints may change colors.

  15. Land lubber here, that place looks awesome!
Consider old school lime white wash instead of 'stucco'. I've done on a few concrete and block projects and really like it. Can also be used on wood I believe.
Up to 50% lime, balance remainder portland (white or gray) and sand. Mix up soupy and gloopy, dampen masonary and mason brush/broom it on. Can do mulitple coats, and can mess with ratios a bit. Can also tint.

  16. Tu cuando complete todos los bloques ,,

Tu tienes que Rellenar todo los huecos

De los bloques abajo hasta que llegue arriba completo y tiene que ser para todos solamente así es que esa pared 🧱

    Va estar muy fuerte..
