Using the white fibreglass flange is a good idea as it spreads the load out all around the hatch area rather than concentrating at each washer and bolt. Nice work on the hatch. Splicing is such a satisfying task. Cheers

My pilot house has 6 opening windows not including the companionway and a vent . The entire forward center window opens .

Hi guys, you should get an extractor fan which is run by 12 V they are very good I have one in my space pod camper absolutely fantastic extracting all the heat and runs on. Nothing like the brushless motor. Keep up the good work Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺

When you are applying that black gunge (or any other kind of sticky goop) apply a little and then spread it out with a disposable plastic serrated barbecue knife.

There is a knot and in some cases it better than an eye splice for halyard shackles. Funny name ah ….. halyard knot…… better then a bowline for this task.

If the cabin heats up "like a greenhouse" try some sun screens in the windows to block the sun's uv rays and heat. You might also want to hang a tarp above the cabin to put the windows in the shade. I've seen other boats do that with good effect.

I was always worried about your anxiety when it came to the dramas that are associated with sailing and or living on a boat. Glad to see you recognise it as well and have someone to talk to. Calm seas a sailor does not make.
I never comment, little back story. I’ve owned and run a business for many years, I’m 36 now. I stumbled upon you guys maybe 6 months ago. You guys made me question what I was doing with my life, I have a house, many cars and would be considered successful by most, after watching you two I’ve now bought a yacht, I searched for a colvic to no avail, but have something very similar now. Bought it last week. Anyway I could go on and on but the moral of the story is, you guys are inspiring…I’m going to keep my house, sell the rest and follow in your bow wave. Thanks for helping me see life in a different view

Can't say if it'll turn out important or not. But it might have been safer to have the frame being a slightly looser fit in the window to leave room for thermal expansion. On a similar note, next time you cut a hole in the mast, leave the corners radiused for less risk of cracks forming.
Very good idea to fit the hatch in the windscreen. I have a HR352 which has a hatch in the windscreen that can be opened (from factory), but when I bought the boat the hatch was sealed and locked (old boat). Last year I spent a fortune on new parts from Hallberg Rassy, but it was worth every penny. To have fresh air ventilating through the cockpit on hot days is such a difference! Especially I believe you will cherish this since you have another layout, and are also in tropical weather (I’m in Scandinavia). Hope you will enjoy your upgrade!
