On most vessels, you are even paid partial wages during travel to and from the the boat
We were just completing a 65m new-build and we took on an Irish nurse/stewie. She was onboard for maybe 10 days/2 weeks and was mad as a box of frogs. 5'2", fat, ginger and 10 years older, she had the Hots for me; followed me everywhere, also ordered all the wrong medical equipment and wound everyone up the wrong way. If the skipper hadn't sacked her, the whole crew would have chipped-in for a flight home. 😆
I've learnt that you must be a former matlow,😮 and you like the word douche bag 😅 very entertaining.
It's confusing to me that the owners are unapproachable. I was in the industrial construction business for 37 yrs and had 20,000 employees around the globe, I had an open door policy, if I had any employee that didn't get paid for 1 week I would be beating on doors to find out why. I spent 6 months every year going to projects and would hold townhall type meetings with the hourly help to get feedback on what my company did well and where we could improve. Someone please explain to me why a yacht owner is treated like his feeling might get hurt because the crew isn't getting paid.
As in any industry or job, b4 you rock the boat do your due diligence & investigate all avenues of resolve. In the end if you feel that the best thing to do is rock the canoe just be aware sometimes the only one bounced out of the boat is you. If you don’t care then make sure you pick the fight on the hill you are prepared to die on……..no regrets. Thanks for the podcast. 🙏🇨🇦👍

Esysman, I'm loving your podcasts and news. Awesome stuff. I have a question which I'd be most grateful if you answered. The question is: what if a dopey captain didn't realise the super yacht had run out of fuel in the middle of the ocean. What would happen then? Has it ever happened in reality? Perhaps someone can make a comedy show about this exact scenario? 😀
WOW, I remember the "gentlemen hosts" on the SS Norway in the late '70s early '80s. Most of the women were draped out in evening gowns and diamonds.
I was the ETO of M/Y Utopia IV when we crashed into that gasoline tanker which sank. As of March 1 2024 Utopia is still currently refusing to pay my wages and prefer to go to trial rather than pay our wages. Trial is scheduled to begin July 29 2024.
In my youth I moved empoyment from a Yacht to another Yacht in port (both owned by the same firm) I had to sign a waiver by the Captain of the first Yacht stating I agreed to not being traveled home before I left the Yacht.
